ii ABSTRACT
Lina Marlina. 2013. The Effect of Compost and PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) in Phytoremediation Soil Contaminated Pb and Cr With Sorghum bicolor L. as Indicator. Supervised by Pujawati Suryatmana, Dedeh Hudaya Arief dan Tri Retno Dyah Larasati.
The persistence of heavy metals in soils have long-term implications of the chemical, physical and biological soil will affect soil fertility and productivity. Need an effort to remediate heavy metal contaminated soil to be used again as a planting medium. The research was conducted in March 2012 until July in the garden of the trial field in Earth and Environmental (KL), Research Center of Isotopes and Radiation Technology Applications (PATIR) Atomic and Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of compost and PGPR in the process of phytoremediation by Sorghum bicolor L on the concentration of soil Pb and Cr, Pb and Cr in plant tissue and than dry weight of sorghum plants. The design used in the experiment was a randomized block design (RBD) and a two-factor factorial with five replications. The first factor is the compost (k) consists of two levels that were without compost and adding compost. The second factor is composed of four PGPR level that were without PGPR (m0), Azotobacter sp., Bacillus sp. and a mixture of Azotobacter sp. and Bacillus sp. The results showed no interaction between compost and PGPR to concentrations of Pb soil, the root Pb, Pb shoot, soil Cr, Cr soil, Cr roots and plant shoot but interact on the dry weight of sorghum plants. Providing compost effect on soil Pb and Cr but had no effect on root Pb, shoot Pb, and root and shoot Cr consentration. Giving PGPR had no effect on soil Pb, Pb roots, shoot Pb, Cr soil, roots Cr and shoot Cr. Treatment provision of compost (24 tonnes / ha) with PGPR Bacillus sp. able to improve the results of the highest plant dry weight.
