ABSTRACT
In this thesis, the writer discusses several aspects of the objective complement in English. There are many aspects studied from this topic. In this study, he discusses verbs that may be followed by objective complement, such as noun phrase, adjective or adjective phrase, a present participle, an infinitive with ‘to’, a bare infinitive, and a prepositional phrase.
Each division of the objective complement mentioned above is classified into several points, such as: noun modifier, object pronoun, possessive nouns as qualifier, possessive pronouns, prepositional adverbs as qualifier, as modifying object, absolute construction, pro (noun) + an infinitive, pro (noun) + an infinitive + pro (noun), pro (noun) + adverbial phrase, as modifier, prepositional phrase beginning with of, prepositional phrase beginning with ‘in’, and prepositional phrase beginning with ‘by’.
After observing the problem that always happens in learning English, he finds that objective complement is an exciting topic to discuss because it will involve various syntactic aspects. Based on the case above, he finally choose the topic to be the title of this thesis
