iv ABSTRACT
In the past 10 years has made the development of new methods that are used to increase the solubility and dissolution rate of pharmaceutical active compounds, by reducing the particle size of pharmaceutical active compounds in the nanometer or submicron range. One of them is the early development of carrier systems made of polymer hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP) based on the nanoparticle by using active ingredient curcumin. This study use bottom up technology with the polymer dispertion technique. These results indicate that the formulation of HPMCP nanoparticle system (HPMCP 100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg in a mixture of ethanol: water (8:2) 10 ml and with PVA 0.1% w / v in 150 ml of water) the results in the smallest size contained in the formula 1 (HPMCP 100 mg) is 1.2 ± 0.1 nm. Once inserted curcumin (20 mg, 14.2 mg, 11.1 mg) in the formula 1, it was found the best formula on the formula 6 (11.1 mg of curcumin) with a particle size of 1.1 ± 0.1 nm and the percent entrapment of active substances in these systems is equal to 96.4 %. it means curcumin in the sample solution have a good trapping into the polymer
