JENIS DAN TINGKAT SERANGAN PARASIT GASTROINTESTINAL KUDA (Equus coballus) DI PETERNAKAN KUDA DESA SEMPAJAYA

ABSTRAK
Penelitian tentang jenis dan tingkat serangan parasit gastrointestinal kuda (Equus coballus) di peternakan kuda desa Sempajaya Berastagi, provinsi Sumatera Utara telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode sedimentasi glass beads. Sebanyak 30 ekor kuda dikelompokkan menjadi dua yaitu kelompok kuda anakan (umur <2 tahun) dan kelompok kuda dewasa (umur >2 tahun), kemudian diperiksa untuk menghitung telur cacing per gram feses. Hasil pengamatan dari 30 sampel feses kuda dengan masing-masing tiga kali ulangan, ditemukan 5 jenis yaitu Haemonchus sp., Ostertagia sp., Strongyloides westeri, Ascaris equorum dan Paramphistomum sp. Prevalensi parasit gastrointestinal pada kelompok kuda anakan yaitu Haemonchus sp. (30 %), Strongyloides westeri (40 %), Ascaris equorum (10 %) dan Paramphistomum sp. (10 %), sedangkan pada kelompok kuda dewasa yaitu, Haemonchus sp. (55 %), Ostertagia sp. (5 %), Strongyloides westeri (5 %) dan Paramphistomum sp. (15 %).

ABSTRACT
Research about type and level of gastrointestinal parasites attacks in horse (Equus coballus) in horse farm of Sempajaya Berastagi village, North Sumatra is explained using sedimentation method with the glass beads. A total of thirty horses collected from young horses group (<2 years ago) and adult horses group (>2 years ago) for counting faecal egg per gram. Thirty faecal samples in three time recycling of each, the result shows that there were five kind type is Haemonchus sp., Ostertagia sp., Strongyloides westeri, Ascaris equorum and Paramphistomum sp. The prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in young horses group is Haemonchus sp. (30 %), Strongyloides westeri (40 %), Ascaris equorum (10 %) and Paramphistomum sp. (10 %) whereas in adult horses group, the prevalence is Haemonchus sp. (55 %), Ostertagia sp. (5 %), Strongyloides westeri (5 %) and Paramphistomum sp. (15 %).
