ABSTRAK
Sembelit merupakan tanda bahwa usus tidak berfungsi secara baik yang diakibatkan oleh diet yang rendah akan serat-serat gizi, tidak cukup minum, kurang gerak badan dan stress. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pola hidup masyarakat dengan terjadinya sembelit, mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi masyarakat terhadap pemilihan pembelian obat pencahar dan mengetahui perbandingan minat masyarakat di Kelurahan Panggung Lor Semarang terhadap sediaan obat pencahar yang tersedia di pasaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Hasilnya sebagai berikut: pola hidup sehat berkorelasi dengan angka kejadian sembelit. Sebanyak 81,19% responden menyatakan pernah mengalami sembelit, 30,71% karena kurangnya konsumsi makanan berserat dan 66,43% karena kurang konsumsi air putih. Responden yang memilih obat pencahar untuk mengatasi sembelit ada 33,18%, tanpa obat (alami) ada 63,64% dan kombinasi keduanya 3,23%. Dalam hal minat, 89,05% memilih obat pencahar berkomposisi bahan alam dan 10,95% memilih komposisi kimia sedangkan pilihan cara penggunaan obat pencahar, 83,57% memilih obat per oral, 7,62% per rektal dan 8,81% memilih keduanya. Faktor-faktor yang dianggap sangat penting mempengaruhi masyarakat dalam pemilihan obat pencahar ialah label kadaluarsa (71,56%), keampuhan khasiat (69,60%), higienis/kebersihan (65,30%), kenyamanan pemakaian (61,49%). Bentuk sediaan obat yang paling diminati masyarakat ialah tablet 54,52%.

ABSTRACT
Constipation is a sign that the bowel doesn’t function properly caused by a low-fibers diet, not enough drinking, lack of exercise and stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between the lifestyle with constipation, knowing the factors that affect the selection of people to purchase laxatives and compare the interest of the community to preparation of laxatives available in the market. This study uses a stratified random sampling technique. The results are: healthy lifestyle correlated with the incidence of constipation. As much as 81,19% of the respondents had experienced constipation, 30,71% due to lack of fibrous foods and 66,43% due to less consumption of water. As much as 33,18% choose laxatives to overcome constipation, 63,64% choose without drugs (naturally) and 3.23% choose a combination of both. In terms of interest, 89.05% choose laxatives that have natural composition and 10,95% choose the chemical composition. For the choice of choosing how to use laxatives, 83.57% choose the drug orally, 7,62% rectally and 8,81% choose both.
