PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN JENIS ASAM PADA PROSES PICKLE
TERHADAP KUALITAS KIMIA KULIT KELINCI PERANAKAN

ABSTRAK
Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Besar Kulit, Karet dan Plastik (BBKKP) Yogyakarta mulai tanggal 30 Juni sampai dengan 15 Agustus 2012. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan jenis asam dan mendapatkan presentasi penggunaan jenis asam terbaik pada proses pickle terhadap kualitas kimia kulit kelinci peranakan New Zealand White. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen terhadap 27 lembar kulit kelinci peranakan New Zealand White berumur 6 bulan. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 9 perlakuan penggunaan jenis asam, yaitu HCl sebanyak 1% (P1), HCl sebanyak 1,5% (P2), HCl sebanyak 2% (P3), H2SO4 sebanyak 1% (P4), H2SO4 sebanyak 1,5% (P5), H2SO4 sebanyak 2% (P6), HCOOH sebanyak 1% (P7), HCOOH sebanyak 1,5% (P8), dan HCOOH sebanyak 2% (P9) yang dihitung dari berat kulit kelinci hasil proses pembuangan daging dan bulu pada tahapan beam house. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Peubah yang diamati adalah kualitas kimia kulit kelinci (pH, kadar air dan kadar garam). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis Sidik Ragam dan untuk menguji perbedaan antar perlakuan menggunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis asam berpengaruh terhadap kualitas kimia kulit kelinci. Penggunaan HCl sebesar 2% memberikan kualitas kimia terbaik, dengan pH sebesar 2,73; kadar air sebesar 75,73% dan kadar garam sebesar 7,28%.

ABSTRACT
The research was conducted at The Central Leather, Rubber, and Plastic Yogyakarta from June 30th to August 15th 2012. The research aims to determine effect of using the type of acids and to get the best presentation use acid type on the pickle process against chemical quality from the skins of New Zealand White rabbit breed. The research was conducted experimentally to 27 sheet of 6 months New Zealand White rabbit rawhide. Experimental method was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with nine treatments of using acid type, namely HCl 1% (P1), HCl 1.5% (P2), HCl 2% (P3), H2SO4 1% (P4), H2SO4 1.5% (P5), H2SO4 2% (P6), HCOOH 1% (P7), HCOOH 1.5% (P8), dan HCOOH 2% (P9) is calculated from the weight of rabbit skin after fleshing and scudding from beam house processing. Each treatments was repeated 3 times. The variables measured were quality rabbit skin chemistry (pH, water content and salinity). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and to test defferences between treatments using Duncan Multiple Test area. The results of this research suggest that the type of acid effects to the chemical quality of rabbit skin. The use of 2% HCl gave the best chemical quality, with a pH of 2.73; the water content of 75.73% dan the salinity of 7.28%.
