PENT-UP SPIKE
Jakarta, 27 March 2017 – PT “a poe a Ag o T k a d su sidia ies “a poe a Ag o" o the
Co pa released its audited financial results along with its operational statistics for full year ending
in December 2016 6 ).
Palm oil output of the Company spiked in the fi al ua te 6 Q 6 as p odu tio e o e came in full swing, ending a year of surpressed yield in high note. Total F esh F uit Bu h FFB harvests within the final three months of the year reached 748,859 tons, a surge of 199% over the previous quarter volume Q 6 which also meant that production in 4Q16 made up more than half of the
year’s output.
Although e al ead e pe ted significant recovery, the pent-up spike turned out to be slightly more.
Good thing we had already taken necessary measures to prepare our palm oil mills for it. Lines of FFB transport trucks coming by the mills was a daily sight, especially those surrounding our South Sumatra estates. Hence, the mills were almost working non-stop for the whole three months, said Ma Louette, CEO of the Company.
Much of the spike was triggered by production surge happening in our Sumatra estates as the region experienced 297% increase versus 3Q16. FFB production within Kalimantan estates also climbed respectably, at 58% over 3Q16. By year end, the year-on-year production gap of FFB harvests managed to narrow sizeably to -21%, from -43% booked in the previous reporting period. Total CPO output in 2016 reached 297,687 tons, or 23% lower than 2015 figure.
Financial performance of the Company in the fourth quarter recovered pronouncedly, from Rp52.86 billion operating loss as of September 2016 to operating profit that amounted to Rp447.16 billion by year end. As a result, Sampoerna Agro booked Rp441.88 billion in earnings for the year, or 78% higher than the previous year. Basically, there were three primary factors o t i uti g to the tu a ou d, said Budi Halim, Chief Financial Officer.
Budi continued, Firstly, we managed to book Rp1,012.06 billion of revenue from CPO in 4Q16 alone given the record-breaking sales volume that was accompanied by year high selling prices within the period. CPO maintained its position as lion share by having contributed 75% towards consolidated revenue in 2016. Secondly, we booked sizeable deferred tax income during the year that arised from asset revaluation initiative in support of the Go e e t’s economic stimulus program. Finally, there was also some additional income arising from sale of a company subsidiary in West Kalimantan. Main rational for the sale was to focus our expansion efforts on more prospective landbank alternatives.
