A B S T R A C T : T h e p u rp os e of t h is s t u d y w a s t o e v a lu a t e t h e n a t ion a l s t a n d a rd of j u n ior s e c on d a ry s c h ool ( J S S ) p rog ra m b a s e d on t h e le v e l of a c h ie v e m e n t of E d u c a t ion a l Na t ion a l S t a n d a rd s ( E NS ) . T h e m e t h od u s e d w a s a s u rv e y w it h a p op u la t ion of a ll t h e n a t ion a l s t a n d a rd s of J S S , w h ile t h e s a m p lin g m e t h od u s e d w a s s im p le ra n d om s a m p lin g w it h a d e s c rip t iv e a n a ly s is t e c h n iq u e . T h e re s u lt s s h ow e d t h a t t h e s a m p le s a t 9 1 . 3 p e rc e n t is a p u b lic J S S , a n d t h e re m a in d e r in p riv a t e J S S . T h e s c h ools v a ry from 2 5 0 t o 1 2 5 0 c h ild re n . O f t h e e ig h t E NS s , on ly s e v e n E NS s t h a t c a n b e a n a ly z e d , w h ile t h e fin a n c in g c ou ld n ot b e a n a ly z e d, s inc e t h e d a t a w e re n ot a c c u ra t e . O f t h e s e v e n E NS s , t he m a x im u m v a lu e s h ould be ob ta in e d a t 2 8 9 , b u t a c t u a lly t h e h ig h e s t s c ore is on ly 2 4 1 ( 8 3 . 3 9 % ) a n d t h e low e s t v a lu e of 1 7 0 ( 5 8 . 8 2 % ) .
