3.1Analysis

An Analysis of Moral Values

As the author explains in the previous chapter, moral values is a standard that can help us to determine the type of action that is appropriate and useful, whether it is right or wrong. In Greatest Hits song lyrics, the authors found moral values conveyed by this vocal group. The analysis is based on 7 Westlife album's lyrics, they are:

1) You Raise Me Up

The first analysis is You Raise Me Up is a song that was originally composed by the duo early in 2002 by the Secret Garden and their invited lead singer, the song only became a minor hundred other artists includin his rendition became a hit in the popularized the song in the United Kingdom two years later. 2) Against All Odds

Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) is a single coined olehPhil Collins and released in February 1984 as the soundtrack of a movie of the same name. This song reached number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks from April 15 to May 5, 1984. Until now the song Against All Odds has been sung by several singers one of them was Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey released the single Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) the first time on October 5, 2000 (solo version). Then on September 18, 2000, Mariah Carey re-released the single is a duet with Westlife, a music group from Ireland. As in the analysis of song lyrics below:

The second analysis is Against All Odds is a song called 'Against All Odds' which has the meaning roughly like this: there are a pair of lovers are forced to separate due to a reason that is not possible anymore for they are united. they both regret and miss each other and together also wants back together.

3) Flying Without Wings

Perhaps many who know this song Flying Without Wings song by "Westlife" but it also never duet with a singer named Christian Castro handsome singer from Spain. The music of this song is very very slick and fun to be heard, loud sounds, soft and strong there all in this song. Collaboration westlife sound personnel with Christian Castro also makes this a very special song. As in the analysis of song lyrics below:

Who knows precisely later dreams that you disconnect it can make you happy and perfect, which can take you to fly without wings. They said: Well, for me it is something special when I could wake up right beside you and then I could see the rising sun shining on your face and I want to make to you to say that I love whenever and wherever.It is the little things that I know, Things that can make you mine, It feels like I do not need another wing, Because you are special thing in my life, I like flying without wings. there is no term failure. So I think the conclusion the meaning of the song I Have a Dreams (Westlife) To achieve success, we must not only act, but also need to dream, not only plan, but also need to believe.

3.2 The Significance of Moral Values in Life Portrayed in the Lyrics

In this chapter, the author would like to discuss the importance of moral values in the life depicted in the lyrics Westlife. The significance of moral values portrayed love, loyalty, sincerity, gratitude, fortitude, humility, love of peace, brotherhood and respect for others. The importance of the social doctrine of human life portrayed in the lyrics Westlife are:

1) Love to God-As Allah says in QS. Ali-'Imran :31 :" If you (really) love Allah, then follow Me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins. "Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. It means that, if we love God and Prophet Muhammad SAW, so, Allah and Prophet will love us too.

2) Love to Family-If loves and affections exist in a family, of course the family will always be harmonious and have togetherness feeling. We will feel alive and happy, and it will be ease for us to accept and love each other.

3) Love to Human-If we love each other, God will mercy us. As Allah says in Qs. Al-Hujuraat:10 “orang yang beriman itu sesungguhnya bersaudara”( the believers are truly brothers). So, we will get the peace relationship between human, nations, and states.

It is interested to analyze the moral values found in Westlife’s selected song lyrics. The writer tries to give some suggestions as follows:

1) Westlife’s selected song lyrics are interested song, they are full with insights ofhumanity. There is a lot of moral values conducted shared to the hearer. An analysis of moral values which done in this study is only some of many values it may give. The writer thinks that the students of English Department may study this lyrics more deeply in oeder to have literary insights.

2) This paper can be a reference for those people who want to do further research of moral values in others song lyrics and significance contained in it.
