Influence of NH OH concentration in synthesis of bismuth oxide to physicochemical properties and photocatalytic activity in methyl orange degradation (Conference Paper)
, , ,
Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, Semarang, Central Java, 50275, Indonesia
Abstract
Synthesis of bismuth oxide was undertaken by precipitation method using NH OH precipitating agent with various concentrations. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of NH OH concentration on the
physicochemical characteristics and photocatalytic activity of bismuth oxides produced. Bismuth oxide synthesis was conducted by varying the concentration of NH OH which was 1.5 M and 2.5 M. Synthesis was carried out through a reaction between HNO and Bi(NO ) .5H O then added NH OH with various concentrations. The resulting precipitate was then filtered and dried in an oven at 110 °C for 24 hours. After that, the oven product was calcined at 600 °C for 1 hour. The XRD results showed that bismuth oxide produced from precipitating agents with a
concentration of 1.5 M and 2.5 M resulted in the same crystal structure mixture, namely α-Bi O and γ-Bi O . Then the results of DRS-UV showed that products synthesized using 1.5 and 2.5 M NH OH have band gap of 2.65 eV and 2.67 eV, respectively. Bismuth oxides synthesized with NH OH 1.5 M and 2.5M has degradation rate constants of methyl orange of 4.46 × 10 and 2.37 × 10 M min respectively with percent degradation for 120 minutes at 82.98% and 37.23%, consecutively. © 2018 Author(s).

ABSTRACT
The iodoaniline malonamide dimer, prepared by double acylation of iodoaniline failed to yield the stilbene dimer by the Heck protocol. By contrast formation of the amino stilbene by a modified Heck procedure followed by double acylation provided in good yield.

ABSTRACT
Picea jezoensis wood block was degraded by a white-rot fungus
( Porodaedalea pini ) under laboratory condition for different periods up to 120 days. Chemical composition changes of the wood caused by white-rot fungus degradation were evaluated by Fourier Transform infrared (FTTR) spectroscopy. Additionally, discoloration of the wood meal was analyzed using colorimeter by calculating CTELab values. The results showed that the constant value in the relative changes of lignin and carbohydrates band ratio, indicating that P . pini degrades lignin and carbohydrates non-selectively, with a slight preference for lignin.
Fungus degradation of wood resulted in rapid color changes (L* value) that correlate well with degradation of lignin. This study also showed that FTTR spectroscopy is a very simple and fast method fore valuating wood degradation.

ABSTRACT
The drying mechanism of the seaweed, Caulerpa Lentillifera, at different temperature were studied. This involved the modelling of the drying kinetic and the studied of the effect of the relative humidity. Five empirical drying kinetic models of Newton, Page, Modified Page,
Logarithmic, and Henderson-Pabis were fitted to the experimental data with the kinetic parameters following the modified Arrhenius equation.
The decency of the fit of different model was statistically evaluated.
Moreover, the milestones for optimization of the drying procedure
towards the energy preservation and the valuable constituent saving have been set through the modelling of the drying process energy
consumption and the studied of the effect of drying temperature to the seaweed physical appearance. This work should be an interesting starting

ABSTRACT
FTIR spectroscopy of adsorbed probe molecules has been existent for some decades and well-developed technique for analysis the composition and structure of the functional groups. In this research, we studied the surface structure of functional groups on modified kaolinite using
pyridine. Modified kaolinite is made by a simple process, impregnation metakaolinite with zinc chloride and characterized by SEM-EDX and thermal gravimetric analysis. Zinc as a Lewis acid site is identified on modified kaolinite at 1449 cm .
