BAB I

PENDAHULUAN

1.1 Latar Belakang

Pada masa sekarang ini, perkembangan industri semakin maju dan tumbuh begitu pesat. Salah satunya perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang produksi kaleng. Dalam menjalankan perindustrian ini harus memiliki inovasi – inovasi baru dalam memproduksi suatu barang. Hal ini dilakukan agar laba yang diinginkan oleh perusahaan dapat diperoleh secara maksimal.

Setiap perusahaan tidak akan lepas dari proses produksi perusahaan atau proses operasional maupun budaya kerja perusahaan. Dalam proses kegiatan produksi sangat dipengaruhi oleh budaya kerja perusahaan. Budaya kerja perusahaan yang baik dan sesuai adalah efektif dan optimalnya pada proses produksinya. Salah satu cara proses produksi agar efektif dan optimal adalah degan menerapkan budaya kerja 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu dan Shitsuke). Seringkali konsep ini diabaikan oleh

perusahaan industri manufaktur, sehingga produksinya dikatakan tidak sesuai standar. Budaya kerja 5S sendiri berasal dari Negara Jepang yaitu Seiri, Seiton, Seiso,

Seiketsu dan

yang berupa pemilahan, penataan, pembersihan, pemantapan, dan pembiasaan untuk mengoptimalisasikan pekerjaan. Budaya kerja 5S sendiri diharapkan agar mampu meningkatkan sasaran pokok pada industri berupa efisiensi kerja, produktivitas kerja,
