STRUKTUR DAN KOMPOSISI VEGETASI POHON DAN POTENSI KARBON TERSIMPAN DI KAWASAN HUTAN GUNUNG SIBUATAN
KECAMATAN MEREK KABUPATEN KARO
ABSTRAK
Penelitian tentang Struktur dan Komposisi Vegetasi Pohon dan Potensi Karbon Tersimpan di Kawasan Hutan Gunung Sibuatan Kecamatan Merek Kabupaten Karo Provinsi Sumatera Utara telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2014 sampai Mei 2015. Lokasi penelitian ditentukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling berdasarkan 4 ketinggian yang dimulai dari ketinggian 1500 m dpl sampai 1900 m dpl. Komposisi pohon terdiri dari 69 jenis pohon dari 26 famili. Luas Bidang Dasar tertinggi didapat pada famili Fagaceae dengan nilai 29.85 m2. Stratifikasi pohon kelompok A, B, dan C ditemukan pada semua lokasi dan jumlah pohon terbanyak termasuk dalam stratum C dengan yaitu 708 individu.Nilai INP tertinggi didapatkan pada jenis Syzygium sp1 Sebesar 27,5% sedangkan yang terendah pada jenis Diospyros sp. Sebesar 0,41%. Lokasi I memiliki indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks keseragaman tertinggi dengan nilai secara berurutan sebesar 3,35 dan 0,91. Jumlah karbon tersimpan yang didapat pada lokasi penelitian senilai 122,76 ton/1,6ha.

STRUCTURE AND COMPOSITION OF TREE VEGETATION AND CARBON STOCKS IN SIBUATAN MOUNT FOREST ECOSYSTEM

ABSTRACT
Research on the structure and composition of vegetation Trees and Potential Carbon Stored in Forest Areas Mount Sibuatan Sub Brand Karo district of North Sumatra Province was held in December 2014 to May 2015. This research aims to determine the structure and composition as well as the potential of carbon stored in the forests of Mount Sibuatan. The research location is identified by purposive sampling method based on 4 height which starts from an altitude of 1500 masl to 1900 m asl. Observations were made using squares method. From the results found the tree composition consists of 69 species from 26 families. The highest value on the horizontal structure of Fagaceae family with a value of 29,85 m2, while the highest vertical structure in stratum A with the average of high value is 32.15 m from 25 individuals. The highest IVI value on the type of Syzygium sp1 around 27.5% and the lowest on the type of Diospyros sp. around 0.41%. Location I have the highest diversity index as well as uniformity index around 3.35 and 0.91, respectively. The highest potential of carbon stored in the second location is 516.1 tons/ha while the smallest obtained at location 1 is 193.6 tons/ha.
