---HP Background Extension
---Edugen cannot be installed when the HP Background extension is enabled. This causes the following error message:
'Installation on the active startup disk "..." cannot take place while another application is running. Please quit HP Background and try again.'
The solution is to turn off the HP Background extension, as follows (the extension cannot be turned off using Extensions manager):
1. Open your Extensions folder (located in the System folder on your Hard drive).
2. Move the HP Background extension onto your desktop. Make sure that the extension is moved, not copied.
3. Restart your computer. HP Background will be disabled. 4. Install Edugen.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Put the HP Background extension back into the Extensions folder. 7. Restart your computer again.
Slow performance
---AppleTalk must be active for correct operation of the Edugen application. If AppleTalk is inactive on your system, please activate AppleTalk and choose Connect via "Remote Only".
Connection failure when working online
The solution is to quit the application and relaunch.
The application can not find Netscape 4.7
---Installation of Netscape 6 causes the desktop information to become
corrupted and so the Edugen application can't see any previous versions of Netscape. As Netscape 4.7 is required for correct functioning of Edugen, the application will not work in this situation. The solution is to rebuild the
desktop. To do this, restart your computer while holding down the command and option keys. There is no need to uninstall Netscape 6.
Problems setting up the Edugen server
---The Edugen server requires particular TCP/IP settings to run. ---These are adjusted automatically by the Edugen program for all common TCP/IP
configurations. However, the program may not be able to deal automatically with new or unusual TCP/IP options. In this case, please consult the
Troubleshooting folder on the CD-ROM for instructions on setting of the required Edugen configurations manually.
Incorrect view of dialog windows
---Netscape 4.7 always uses font attributes that are set in the browser
Preferences. If the font is set very large the text fields that are used in the program may exceed the border of the program windows. In this case please set default font preferences.
