TUJUAN PEMBELAJARAN

Melalui proses pembelajaran materi Descriptive Text dengan menggunakan Model Discovery Learning, Peserta didik diharapkan disiplin dan Bertanggungjawab dalam menentukan fungsi sosial dari monolog descriptive, membandingkan struktur teks dan ciri bahasa dari dua buah Descriptive text serta menyusun sebuah Text Deskriptif dengan struktur, unsur Bahasa dan fungsi social yang tepat berikut penerapannya pada kehidupan sehari-hari misalnya dalam mendeskripsikan berbagai tempat bersejarah secara tretulis sesuai dengan ide baru berdasarkan berbagai macam sumber belajar baik Offline maupun Online. Peserta didik juga diharapkan bertanggungjawab dan mampu bekerjasama serta terampil dalam menyusun sebuah teks deskriptif tulis.

People usually have vacation in their holidays. They usually visit tourist attractions such as park, beach, theme park, museum, zoo, waterfall, lake. But in this pandemic era, we just could stay at home, but don’t worry you can still watch it no YouTube. Tourist attraction is a place that people visit for pleasure and interest, usually while they are on holiday. People usually visit a tourist attraction typically for its inherent or exhibited natural or cultural value, historical significance, natural or built beauty.

INTRODUCTION

VOCABULARIES

Historic site or heritage site is an official location where pieces of political, military, cultural, or social history have been preserved due to their cultural heritage value.

Historic sites are usually protected by law, and many have been recognized with the official national historic site status. A historic site may be any building, landscape, site or structure that is of local, regional, or national significance. Usually this also means the site must be at last 50 years or older. In Bali, there are some historical sites that exist, one that is famous is the Margarana Memorial Park that is located in Tabanan.

Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing. Descriptive text is defined as an English text to describe what the objects or living things we describe are like, whether in appearance, smell, sound, texture, quantity, or the properties of these living things or creatures. Descriptive text does not require detailed information, for example from research results or in-depth observation in describing something. Rather, descriptive text is more about describing what we see, hear, and feel in something we want to describe.

GENERIC STRUCTURE

1. Identification It is part of paragraph which introduces or identifies the character to be described. It can be called general description of the subject. Usually it contains object’s name, kind of the object, etc.

2. Description It is part of paragraph which describes parts and characteristics of the person or something that will be described in detail, so the readers can get clear description of the subject.

Example:

Identification Borobudur is a Buddhist temple located in the Magelang City, Central Java Province, and about 40 km from the Yogyakarta city. Borobudur temple consists of 6 levels of a square, 3 levels in the form of circular and 1 main stupa, the total is 10 stupas.

Description At each level there are several stupas. At the Borobudur stupa in addition there are 72 main stupa and there is a statue of Buddha in every stupa. Ten levels of Buddhist philosophy are, the ten levels of Bodhisattva who must pass to reach the perfection to be a Buddha in nirvana. The main stupa symbolizes the perfection which is the highest level. When viewed from above, Borobudur structure forming a mandala structure that describes the patterns of human thought and Buddhist cosmology. Borobudur Temple was built in the 9th century.

There is a gate on the fourth side of the temple and on it there are stairs to a level like a pyramid. It describes the Buddhist philosophy that all life came from rocks. Stone became sand, then a plant and then into an insect, then a wild animal and pets, and the last to be human. This process is known as reincarnation. The final process is to be the soul and finally into nirvana. Buddhist philosophy drawn on the reliefs and sculptures tell the whole temple of Borobudur in every stage of enlightenment in the process of human life.

Borobudur Temple is a huge building which was just a giant pile of stone blocks which have a 42 meter high. Making this temple was without using cement or adhesive. These stones are only connected with the pattern and just stacked it. The base of Borobudur has a size of about 118 m on each side. Approximately 55,000 cubic meters of stones used to build this temple fatherly. All the stones used came from a river around Borobudur. These stones are cut and transported then connected with a pattern like the lego games.

When we write descriptive text, we always mention adjectives and nouns. We also need noun phrase in it.

1. Noun is a part of speech that names a person, place, thing, idea, action or quality. In descriptive text, we usually mention thing, place or person.

2. Adjectives is a word that describe a noun. When we combine an adjective and a noun, it forms noun phrase. A noun phrase is a noun that goes with a modifier. An adjective that describes a noun is called modifier.

The National Monument

The National Monument (or Monumen Nasional) is a 132-meter tower in the center of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta. It symbolizes the fight for Indonesia’s independence. The monument consists of a 117,7 m obelisk on a 45 m square platform at a height of 17 m.

The towering monument symbolizes the philosophy of Lingga and Yoni. Lingga resembles, rice pestle (alu) and Yoni resembles a mortar rice (lesung), two important items in Indonesian agricultural tradition.

The construction began in 1961 under the direction of President Soekarno and the monument was opened to the public in 1975. It is topped by a flame covered with gold foil. The monument and museum are opened daily from 08.00 – 15.00 every day throughout the week, except for the last Monday of the month the monument is closed.

Prambanan Temple

Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple compound in Central Java in Indonesia, located approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta.

Candi Borobudur is characterised by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temple architecture, and by the 47 m high central building inside a large complex of individual temples. It was built around 850 CE by either Rakai Pikatan, king of the second Mataram Dynasty, or Balitung Maha Sambu, during the Sanjaya Dynasty. Not long after its construction, the temple was abandoned and began to deteriorate.

Reconstruction of the compound began in 1918. The main building was completed in around 1953.

Yogyakarta is one of the foremost cultural centers of Java, the seat of the mighty Javanese empire of Mataram from which present-day Yogyakarta has the best inherited of traditions. The key attraction of Yogyakarta is 'Kraton' (the Sultan's Palace), the centre of Yogya's traditional life and despite the advance of modernity; it still emanates the spirit of refinement, which has been the hallmark of Yogya's art for centuries. This vast complex of decaying buildings was built in the 18th century, and is actually a walled city within the city with luxurious pavilions and in which the current Sultan still resides. Yogyakarta is also the only major city, which still has traditional 'Becak' (rickshaw-style) transport.

The Great Wall of China as Chinese fortification built from 3rd century BC until the beginning of the 17th century, in order to protect the various dynasties from raids by Mongol, Turkish, and other nomadic tribes coming from areas in modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria.

The Bali Museum is a museum of art and history located in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. The museum was built in 1931 by architect P.J. Moojen, near the location of the former royal palace of Denpasar, which had been burnt to the ground during the Dutch intervention in Bali in 1906.
