The NBS Templates for Autodesk ® Revit ® are project or family template files which have been pre-loaded with the shared parameters required by the NBS BIM Object Standard.
The templates can be used to streamline the adoption of the NBS BIM Object Standard by eliminating the need to load each shared parameter individually, and manually sort the property into the correct group. When used alongside the NBS Shared Parameters file the Autodesk Revit templates will aid you in providing consistent data standards and parameter GUIDs across your BIM ready business.
To use the template files, simply download the zip file containing the set of templates and save them to your templates folder for the next time you create a Revit family or start a new project. To create a new system family, such as wall or floor assemblies, simply open the project template, navigate to the desired type in the project browser and copy it into your current project. For CAD and BIM resources, ARCAT is a one-stop shop. Their free, no registration system has everything from concrete to pollution control system.

NBS are better known for their specifications but have taken a strong interest in BIM recently. The library is still a little sparse but the basics are in place for a very useful resource.

Some useful free components are especially strong on furniture and interiors.

This site offers components that you pay for but there is a small number of free items. TurboSquihasve a Revit certification system that ensures the components meet minimum standards. Compare the prices to the time you might spend modeling the items.

A good place to find manufacturer-specific content, a bit hard to navigate and find products without knowing the manufacturer first. Worth a look, however.
14. Polantis.
This site offers a huge range of 3d content, however a lot of the Revit families are not “true” Revit families, in the sense they have been created in other 3d programs and just imported and saved as a Revit Family file. Good site if you’re just after content for visualization purposes.
15. BIMbox.
Another great site from the UK, BIMbox has a decent amount of Revit content available for free download. Most of the content is geared towards interiors (Sofas, Tables, Shelving, etc.) and the site is well presented. Most Revit content is IFC compliant which is great.
16. Familit.
RFA files are family files that can either be loaded using Revit family manager into a project or saved externally. At the moment familit.com offers 18.000 free families in English, German and French language.

GSA has produced a set of Revit templates that are available in both Revit 2014 and Revit 2015 formats. These templates are intended to make adherence to GSA standards more streamlined for project teams. Use of the templates, unlike the Standards, is purely optional. They are provided as a courtesy only. There are three primary templates; Architectural, Electrical, and Plumbing/Mechanical. How do I export View Templates from this article's downloadable files?
To export the View Templates from our project file to yours, first you must have both files open in Revit. Next, in your project file, go to the Manage tab and then to Settings and click on Transfer Project Standards . A window will pop up where you will see all of the configurations that can be transferred to your project. Click on Check None and then on the box that says View Template . With this, the View Templates should be transferred and ready to use.
How do I use View Templates ?
Once you have created your own View Templates or if you are using the ones transferred from our file, you can apply them by going to Identity Data under the Properties function. Once different View Templates are created, you can continue configuring them with the View tab, under the Graphics sub-tab, by clicking View Templates .

Basic configurations for planimetry in Revit.
Revit gives you several options when it comes to configuring different displays. Here we'll look at Object Styles , Visibility Graphics , and View Templates , in order to give you a better idea about how to produce interesting floor plans and also how to reuse these configurations for other displays and projects.
Global Configuration: Object Styles.
This conforms the global configurations for presenting 3d models, 2d elements, and annotating. They're a key factor in projects and are organized according to their elements. You can find this function in the Manage tab under the Settings sub-tab.
In the Object Styles window, there are different elements that can be configured, like widening lines and changing their color or pattern.
Taking the time to configure the different element parameters in Object Styles will allow you to personalize all objects in the display.
Display Configuration: Visibility Graphics.
However, every display has personalized configurations that can differ from the general configurations in Object Styles.
Every display has its own graphic configurations, called Visibility Graphics . In whichever display--floor plan, cut, elevation, or 3D-- under the View tab and then under the Graphics sub-tab, you will find the Visibility/Graphics function, that allows you to configure viewing options that can only be used with that particular display.
Configuring Replicable Displays: View Templates.
With the general configurations in Object Styles and the particular ones for the displays in Visibility Graphics , you can save the configurations that you have made as View Templates . These can be used with different displays as long as they coincide with the type of display (floor plan, cut/elevation, 3D view). You can create these by right-clicking on the configured display in the Project Browser and then clicking on the Create View Template from View option.
