About the topic/technology
The planning and design of commercial interiors is a complex and demanding business. The designer must deal with the full range of practical, aesthetic, and psychosocial issues involved; and consider the codes and regulations, building systems, specialized equipment and other factors that set this apart from residential design. The designer must also know how to manage the commercial project in the context of their professional practice.
By moving into one of the design specialties -- whether office, retail, hospitality, or institutional -- designers can be greatly challenged and rewarded.
