ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kandang Unggas Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Padjadjaran Kabupaten Sumedang tanggal 28 Oktober sampai dengan 25 November 2013. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian bawang putih (Allium sativum) terhadap sekret mucus sel goblet ileum dan ukuran usus halus puyuh (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Pengaruh perlakuan diuji menggunakan analisis ragam (Anova) dan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Terdapat empat jenis perlakuan (P0 = 0 g, P1 = 0,525 g, P2 = 1,050 g dan P3 = 1,575 g BK bawang putih) dengan enam ulangan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa pemberian bawang putih (0,525-1,575 g BK bawang putih) berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap sekret

mucus sel goblet ileum puyuh, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap

panjang dan berat usus halus puyuh. Pemberian bawang putih terbaik adalah 0,575 g BK dapat meningkatkan sekret mucus sel goblet ileum dan berat usus halus.

ADMINISTRATED WITH GARLIC (Allium sativum)

ABSTRACT

This research was conducted at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Poultry Cage, Padjadjaran University, Sumedang from October 28 to November 25, 2013. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of garlic (Allium sativum) on the goblet cells mucus secretion of ileum and size of small intestine in quail

(Coturnix coturnix japonica). A completely randomized design (CRD) was used

in the experiment. The data were analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and if there was any significant difference it was further tested with Duncan’s Multiple Range test. There were four treatments P0 = 0 g, P1 = 0,525 g, P2 = 1,050 g and P3 = 1,575 g DM of garlic) with six replications. Based on the results of statistical analysis showed that administration of garlic (0.525 to 1.575 g DM of garlic) had significant effect (P<0.05) to increase goblet cells mucus secretion of ileum in quail, but had no significant effect (P<0.05) on the length and weight of the small intestine in quail. It is concluded that the doses of 0,525 g DM of garlic increased goblet cells mucus secretion of ileum and small intestine weight in quail.
