TOURIST VISA

 Valid for tourist purposes, max. 60-day stay, single entry only

 Submit completed application form to the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra

SOCIAL CULTURAL VISA

 Valid for social-cultural purposes, max. 60-day stay, single entry only. Visa extension is available at local immigration offices in which the applicant stays

 Copy ID of sponsor. For sponsor that is non-Indonesian citizen, provide a copy of temporary stay permit/ KITAS and copy passport of the sponsor, for Indonesian citizen sponsor, provide copy KTP (Indonesian ID card)

LIMITED STAY VISA

 Valid for foreign investment purposes, working activities, employment in government/ private sector, education, research, religious duties, volunteer or social mission, for foreigner who is legally and valid married to Indonesian citizens, for foreigner joining spouse who is a foreign national in possession of Limited Stay Permit or Permanent Residence Permit, for child of a legal and valid marriage between foreigner and Indonesian citizen, for child whose age is not yet 18 years old and unmarried joining parent(s) who is a foreign national in possession of Limited Stay Permit or Permanent Residence Permit, for child whose age is not yet 18 years old and

unmarried of a legal and valid marriage between foreigner and Indonesian citizen and who joins father or mother an Indonesian citizen

 Max. 1 (one) year stay and must not exceed the validity period of passport  Application for limited stay visa is subject to

the approval of Indonesian Immigration Office in Jakarta.

 The Indonesian Embassy will not issue any limited stay visa without official notification or approval from the Indonesian Immigration Office in Jakarta

 For applicant conducting activities in education, research, religious, volunteer or social mission, must enclose the original and copy of letter of recommendation from the assigned institution or specific department/ division

 For applicant working in a foreign investment or domestic investment venture, or working as technical professional on assignment by a foreign aid organizations must enclose letter of recommendation from technical department in Indonesia, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board and copy of letter of agreement to employ foreign worker  Visa fee AUD 80 (for less than 6-month

stay) and AUD 165 (for 6 – 12 month stay) is non-refundable and may be paid only by money order payable to Indonesian Embassy

 NOTE: When the holder of limited stay visa

arrived in Indonesia, he/ she should contact the nearest immigration office within maximum 7 days since date of arrival to apply for the temporary stay permit (KITAS). Failure to do so will cause the cease of the visa. The sponsor in Indonesia usually has arranged all necessary permits and understands how to proceed to obtain KITAS and re-entry permit from the local immigration.

VISA ON ARRIVAL (VOA)

 Valid for tourist purposes, max. 30-day stay, single entry only. VoA can be extended for next 30 days. Please be advised that visa extension shall be made at least 7 days before the first 30 days expires. VoA cannot be converted into other immigration permits

 Visa fee USD 35 and is payable upon entry at the Immigration Check-Points

VISA APPLICATION BY MAIL

 Visa application by mail should enclose a self-addressed and stamped return envelope, using Express Post or Courier Service.

 Applicants should keep the Tracking Numbers of the documents and the return envelope they send to the Embassy.  The Embassy will not be held responsible

for documents that lost during delivery process.

TAKING PRESCRIBED DRUGS INTO

INDONESIA

 Traveller carrying medicines from Australia to Indonesia is required to provide evidence of need for particular medicines.

 Common medicines such as those that treat flu, diarrhea and dehydration symptoms, as well as vitamins, do not require supporting documents.

 The Embassy can issue a letter informing that an individual is taking medication while travelling to Indonesia.

 The letter is not for legality purposes nor providing guarantee that you will be exempted from any checks.

 It will only provide information to Indonesian authorities that you are under medications based on the letter of your doctor and the drug prescriptions.

 Please make sure that the medicines are in original packaging and within the reasonable amount considering your length of stay in Indonesia.

 Eastern Indonesia Time which is GMT +9 (covering Maluku and Irian Jaya). The capital Jakarta is GMT + 7 or 16 hours ahead of US Pacific Standard Time.

Currency

The Indonesian currency is called Rupiah (IDR). Information of daily exchange rate can be found in newspapers or from Indonesian Central Bank Website (Bank Indonesia). Some Indonesia banks also provide this on their websites.

Most tourism resorts have money changer facilities. When you are travelling to remote areas it is advisable to Rupiah in cash. Credit cards are only acceptable in big hotels, restaurants, shops, and travelling agencies.

Electricity

Electric power supply is 220 volts in all regions. So be careful with your 110-volt electronic equipment.

The sockets will only fit with two pins rounded-tip plugs (technically known as Type C, E, and F) or use adaptors.

Most hotels and many restaurants in large cities provide internet connections or free WiFi.

Office Hours

Office hours start from 8 AM to 4 PM, or 9 AM to 5 PM. Lunch break occurs between 12 noon to 1 PM.

Usually offices are closed on Saturday and Sunday, including government offices. Government office hours stars at 8 AM and ends at 4 PM.

Banking Hours

Standard banking hours are from 8 AM to 3 PM from Monday to Friday. However several banks open their branches in hotels (and some in shopping counters) longer than office hour, a few are open on Saturdays so you might want to check first. Jakarta has a number of international banks.

 Plan your budget and choose your destination carefully.

 Make sure you find as many information as possible concerning Indonesia, before you go.

 Have sufficient cash ready. It can easily be exchanged in airports, hotels, banks or reputable money changers.
