STATEMENT OF ORIGINALITY

I here with declare that the research, paper I wrote as partial fulfillment of requirement for the sarjana degree and submitted to the English Education Department, the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training wholly constitutes my original scientific writing.

The other person’s works whose ideas are quoted in this paper have been referred to appropriately by the prevailing legal and intellectual ethic in the world of scientific writing tradition.

ABSTRACT

Dede Rapli. 181230177. 2022. The Effectiveness of Using Podcast in Spotify Application for Teaching Critical Listening (A Quasi-Experimental Research Method of Eleventh Grade at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pandeglang)

This study is designed to find out the effectiveness of using Podcast in Spotify Application for Teaching Critical Listening of Eleventh Grade at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pandeglang. It is conducted based on research questions 1). how is the effectiveness of using podcast in the spotify application for teaching critical listening?., 2) What is students difficulties when learning listening using podcast in spotify application?., and the objective of study are 1) To analysis the effectiveness of podcast in spotify application for teaching critical listening., 2) To analysis students difficulties in learning listening using podcast in spotify application. This study used an experimental research design and the data was collected from 42 students in two classes (experimental class and control class). The result of this study is showed from the data of pre-test and post-test score. It can be seen from the mean of pre-test score in experimental class (28,33), and the mean of post-test score (61,23). Meanwhile, based on the statistical calculation the value of to (5,61), and df (40) in significance 5% (ttable = 1,68) and significance 1% (ttable = 2,42).

From comparing the to and ttable, the result is to > ttable = 5,61 > 1,68 and to > ttable = 5,61 > 2,42. It means that tobservation (to) is higher than ttable (tt), so Null Hypothesis (HO) is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that using podcast in spotify application has significant effect on teaching students’ critical listening skill.

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

The writer, Dede Rapli, was born in Tangerang, on December 24nd, 2000.

He lives in Kp. Bojong Ds. Daru Kec. Jambe Kab. Tangerang, Banten. He is the fourth child, from the couple married of Mr. Komarudin and Mrs. Neneng. he finished his elementary education at SDN Daru 1 from 2006-2012, whereas his junior high school at SMPN 1 Jambe from 2012-2015 and his senior high school at MA Yayasan Bina Insan Kamil (YABIKA) from 2015-2018. Three years later, his continued education by joining undergraduate program of English Education Department, Faculty Of Education And Teacher Training, State Islamic University

“Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin” Banten.
