Kegiatan kepariwisataan di Indonesia tahun-tahun terakhir ini semakin meningkat. Dalam jangka panjang, di mana sektor pariwisata diharapkan menjadi primadona dalam pembangunan, maka pengkajian yang lebih intensif dan menyeluruh perlu dilakukan mengingat sektor-sektor pembangunan lainnya yang secara langsung maupun tidak langsung besar pengaruhnya dalam pengembangan pariwisata. Demikian juga dengan kegiatan pariwisata di Propinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta yang telah ditetapkan sebagai salah satu daerah tujuan wisata utama di Indonesia.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menganalisis dampak pengeluaran wisatawan (wisatawan asing dan domestik) terhadap perekonomian Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, yang meliputi (1) dampak pengeluaran wisatawan terhadap pembentukan output sektoral; (2) dampak pengeluaran wisatawan terhadap pembentukan nilai tambah; (3) dampak pengeluaran wisatawan terhadap penciptaan kesempatan kerja dan (4) keterkaitan antara sektor pariwisata dan sektor lainnya dalam perekonomian Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.

Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder, terutama dari Tabel Input-Output Propinsi DIY tahun 1991 dan data pengeluaran wisatawan. Masalah-masalah dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan Model Input-Output.

Dari penelitian diperoleh hasil bahwa pengeluaran wisatawan di Propinsi DIY berdampak meningkatkan output sektoral, nilai tambah dan kesempatan kerja, walaupun dengan peningkatan yang relatif kecil. Tetapi karena dampak pengeluaran wisatawan terhadap output dan kesempatan kerja yang diciptakan secara tidak langsung lebih besar, maka dampak pariwisata terhadap perekonomian sangat dinamis dan berprospek jangka panjang. Sektor pariwisata di Propinsi DIY mempunyai efek keterkaitan ke belakang yang kuat dan kemampuan penyebaran yang tinggi terhadap sektor-sektor lainnya dalam perekonomian. Dengan demikian, usaha-usaha untuk mengembangkan sektor pariwisata akan berdampak positif pada perkembangan sektor-sektor lain di Propinsi DIY.

Recently, tourism activities in Indonesia have been increasing. Within a long-term the tourism sector is supposed to be the favorite in the development, so both the intensive and entire study of tourism need to remember the other sector of direct and indirect development which have great influence in the tourism development. Moreover, tourism activities in the province

of Daerah 1stimewa Yogyakarta have been settled as one of main tourism

destination in Indonesia.

This study aims to measure and analyze the impact of tourist expenditure (both the foreign and domestic tourists) towards the economic of Daerah

1stimewa Yogyakarta, which includes (1) the impact of tourist expenditure

towards the formation of sectoral output; (2) the impact of tourist expenditure towards the formation of value-added; (3) the impact of tourist expenditure towards the creation of employment, and (4) the linkages between tourism sector and the other ones in the economic of Daerah 1stimewa Yogyakarta.

The data used in this study was secondary one, especially, from the Input-Output Table of DIY Province of 1991 and from tourist expenditure data. The problems appeared in tnis study were analyzed by using Input-Output Model.

The result of the study that the tourist expenditure in the province of

Daerah 1stimewa Yogyakarta could influence the increasing in the sectoral

output, value-added and employment, though the increase was still small. However, because of this tourist expenditure impact towards the output and the employment created indirectly were greater, so the tourism impact towards the economic is very dynamic and has a long-term prospects. The tourism sector of DIY Province has strong-backward -linkages effect and also has high spreading ability towards the other sectors of economic. Thus, the effort for developing the tourism sector will influence positively on the development of other sectors in the DIY Province.
