PENGARUH KONSENTRASI MINYAK BIJI GANDUM

(Triticum vulgare) TERHADAP NILAI SUN PROTECTION

FACTOR (SPF) KRIM TABIR SURYA DARI KOMBINASI

OKSIBENZON DAN OKTILMETOKSISINAMAT

ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang: Sinar matahari menghasilkan radiasi salah satunya adalah

radiasi ultraviolet. Radiasi ultraviolet dapat menyebabkan kerusakan kulit, kulit terbakar serta menyebabkan noda-noda cokelat serta penebalan dan keringnya kulit. Untuk mencegah efek buruk dari radiasi ultraviolet tersebut, dapat digunakan sediaan tabir surya untuk perlindungan fisik. Minyak biji gandum(wheat germ oil)merupakan minyak nabati yang kaya akan asam linoleat dan juga vitamin E yang berperan sebagai antioksidan.

Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan kestabilan secara fisik

penambahan minyak biji gandum terhadap nilai SPF krim tabir surya kombinasi oksibenzon dan oktil metoksisinamat.

Metode: Sediaan krim tabir surya dibuat dalam 6 formula yaitu Formula 0 (basis

krim, yaitu butilen glikol, disodium edetat, trietanolamin, petrolatum, setil alkohol, asam stearat, gliseril monostearat, natrium metabisulfit, nipagin dan air suling), Formula 1 (blanko), Formula 2 (minyak biji gandum 5%), Formula 3 (minyak biji gandum 7,5%), Formula 4 (minyak biji gandum 10%) dan Formula 5 (minyak biji gandum 12,5%), yang setiap formula mengandung oksibenzon 2% dan oktil metoksisinamat 5%.Evaluasi sediaan krim meliputiuji homogenitas, penentuan tipe emulsi, uji pH, uji stabilitas (warna dan bau), uji iritasi kulit, dan efektivitas SPF sediaan secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometer UV. Uji statistik menggunakan metode One Way Anova.

Hasil: Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh sediaan krim homogen, tipe emulsi

m/a, pH 6,47-7,90, tidak mengiritasi, dan stabil selama penyimpanan 12 minggu pada suhu kamar. Penelitian juga menunjukkan semakin meningkatnya konsentrasi minyak biji gandum yang ditambahkan pada sediaan krim, semakin tinggi nilai SPF pada sediaan krim. Nilai SPF dari Formula 1 (blanko) adalah 11,04, Formula 2,3,4 dan 5 adalah14,32, 14,77, 15,58, dan 17,91 dengan masing-masing peningkatan dimulai dari Formula 2 adalah sebesar 3,21%, 5,41% dan 14,96%.

Kesimpulan: Penambahan minyak biji gandum pada sediaan krim tabir surya

kombinasi oksibenzon dan oktil metoksisinamat dapat meningkatkan nilai SPF dari sediaan tersebut dan juga memiliki sifat fisik yang baik.

CONCENTRATION ON SUN PROTECTION FACTOR (SPF)

VALUE OF SUNSCREEN CREAM OF OXYBENZONE AND

OCTYL METHOXYCINNAMATE COMBINATION

ABSTRACT

Background: Sunray produces radiation which one of them is ultraviolet

radiation. The ultraviolet radiation can cause acute skin effect such as erythema, sunburn, pigmentation and dry skin. In order to protect our skinn from those ultraviolet radiation effect, we can use sunscreen for physical protection. Wheat germ oil is a vegetable oil which is rich in linoleic acid and vitamin E that act as antioxidants. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the physical stabilities and the effect of wheat germ oil concentration variation on SPF value on sunscreen cream with combination of oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate.

Methods: The cream preparations were made in 6 formulas such as Formula 0

(cream base, buthylene glycol, disodium edetat, triethanolamine, petrolatum, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, glyceryl monostearate, sodium metabisulfite, nipagin and purified water), Formula 1 (blank), Formula 2 (wheat germ oil 5%), Formula 3 (wheat germ oil 7.5%), Formula 4 (wheat germ oil 10%) and Formula 5 (wheat germ oil 12.5%), which combined with oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate 2 and 5 %w/w for each formulas. Evaluations conducted on cream such as cream homogenity, emulsion type, pH value, stability tests (color and odor), skin irritation and determining SPF value by in vitro way using spectrophotometer UV. Statistic test used One Way Anova method.

Results: The result of this study showed that all samples are homogen, the

emulsion type was o/w, range of pH 6.47-7.90, non-irritating and stable during 12 weeks of storage at room temperature. The evaluation also showed that along the increases of the wheat germ oil concentration in cream, the SPF value will also increased.The SPF value for Formula 1 (blank) was 11.04, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula 4 and Formula 5 were 14.32, 14.77, 15.58, and 17.91 with the percentage started from Formula 2 were 3.21%, 5.41% and 14.96%.

Conclusion: Addition of wheat germ oil on sunscreen cream can increase the

SPF value of sunscreen cream with combination of oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate and also showed a good physical stability.
