The thesis entitled “Students' Difficulties toward Online Learning Listening in Higher Education” discussed the difficulties faced by students in the first semester toward online listening. The purpose of this research was to find out the difficulties faced by students and the factors that cause difficulties. This study was conducted at the Antasari State Islamic University of Banjarmasin.
This study used qualitative methods. The population of this study was students from the first semester at English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, 2020 academic year. The total population was 80 students from three classes. This study used a random sampling technique by selecting 24 student representatives as the subject of this study. Data collection was carried out by interviewing the students.
The results of this study found that there are several problems faced by students as well as factors that make students have difficulty when online listening. The difficulties faced by students in online listening are characteristics of the message: unfamiliar topics, characteristics of the delivery: speakers’
accents, characteristics of the listener: getting sick, and characteristics of the environment: background noise. The factor that influenced the student difficulties in online listening was internal factor: physical conditions, and external factor:
family factor.

Skripsi yang berjudul “Kesulitan Mahasiswa pada Pembelajaran Online Listening di Perguruan Tinggi” membahas tentang kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa semester 1 pada online listening. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dan faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Islam Negeri Antasari Banjarmasin.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester satu pada Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan, tahun akademik 2020. Total populasi 80 mahasiswa dari tiga kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik random sampling dengan memilih 24 perwakilan mahasiswa sebagai subjek penelitian.
Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara kepada mahasiswa.
Pada hasil penelitian ini ditenemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa masalah yang dihadapi mahasiswa serta faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan mahasiswa saat menyimak online. Kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam menyimak online adalah karakteristik pesan: topik yang tidak dikenal, karakteristik penyampaian: aksen pembicara, karakteristik pendengar: sakit, dan karakteristik lingkungan: latar belakang kebisingan. Faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan siswa dalam menyimak online adalah faktor internal: kondisi fisik, dan faktor eksternal: faktor keluarga.
