Perancangan dan Analisa Pemanfaatan Access Point Menggunakan

Wireless Distribution System

(Studi Kasus : PMI Kota Salatiga)

Abstract

Wireless network provides a new alternative in the convenience of accessing the internet without relying on the cable network which cause limited mobility of internet users. The problems that occurred in the PMI Salatiga is the amount of room that restrict access devices as well as Internet users who frequently move from area room internet access is available in the lounge. Wireless Distribution System is done by utilizing the access point to determine the location of the placement and height of the optimal access point. Determining the coverage area by performing calculations that wifi range power levels > -60 dBm at each access point is made to solve the problems occurred. Based on research that has been done, the results obtained height point of 2 meters as the access point and the optimal range of 7.22 meters distance from access point.

Abstrak

Jaringan nirkabel memberikan alternatif baru dalam kemudahan mengakses internet tanpa bergantung pada jaringan kabel yang menyebabkan mobilitas pengguna internet terbatas. Permasalahan yang terjadi di PMI Kota Salatiga adalah banyaknya ruangan yang membatasi

akses device serta pengguna internet yang sering berpindah ruangan dari area yang tersedia

akses internet yaitu di ruang tunggu. Wireless Distribution System dilakukan dengan

memanfaatkan access point untuk menentukan lokasi penempatan dan ketinggian access point

yang optimal. Menentukan coverage area dengan melakukan perhitungan dimana level daya

jangkauan wifi > -60 dBm pada setiap access point dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan

yang terjadi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan maka didapatkan hasil 2 meter

sebagai titik ketinggian access point dan jarak jangkauan optimal 7,22 meter dari access point.
