ABSTRACT
Education contributes greatly to the nation's progress and development of national character.
Among many of the nation's development agenda, education is one of the important and strategic agenda that demands serious attention from all sides, because education is a determining factor in the future progress of the nation. Development of education implemented by the government and the public is one of the efforts of the embodiment of national ideals, namely the intellectual life of the nation.
Human resources are the most important assets in an organization, because it is a source that controls the organization and maintain and develop the organization in dealing with various demands of the times. teachers and lecturers as educators have a function, role and strategic position in the national development in education, so it needs to be developed as a dignified profession. A professional teacher prosecuted a number of requirements, among other qualified professional education and scientific competence, have good communication skills with their students, have a creative spirit and productive, have a work ethic and commitment to his profession and always conduct self-development continuously.
Transformational leaders behave in order to provide the motivation to inspire the people around him. In the aspect of inspirational motivation, principals often apply, a statement supporting that this aspect is often applied can be seen from the statement of teachers stating that the principal motivators excited to continue to generate enthusiasm and optimism of the teacher, often provides a challenge for teachers to meet higher standards , always communicate optimism about achieving future goals and assigned meaningful and often provide motivation to teachers so that teachers can work achieve the set targets, as well as stimulating business subordinates to apply innovative and creative by questioning assumptions, restrictions on the problem and the approach of the old situation in a new way.
Guidance and counseling in schools set up to facilitate the education unit in realizing the educational process that takes into account and answered variety of abilities, needs, and interests in accordance with the characteristics of learners. guidance and counseling in education units to facilitate learners in selecting and establishing academic specialization program for high school students and specialization in vocational education for students of SMK / MAK and the selection of subjects of special interests traffic for learners SMA / MA.
School effectiveness refers to the performance of the organizational unit called School. School performance can be demonstrated through the school output, which in turn is measured according to the average student achievement at the end of their formal education at the school.
Career planning is the process of an individual to choose and decide to be lived career that lasts a lifetime. This implies not only the students' career planning take place at this high school, but lasted until the student can achieve what they expect in accordance with the plans they have made previously. To assist students in preparing themselves in career selection, then the student must first be able to understand him that is by understanding the possessed skills, talents, interests, ideals, as well as other aspects that support student understanding.

This research is quantitative descriptive correlative, because this research will reveal the events that have occurred and which have contributed and will not make any special treatment to the subject of research.
This research is expected to explain effectiveness transformational leader role and contribution within a school counselor who efectif in determining high school students career planning.
