D. Data Collection Technique

In this part, the researcher will describe on how the data is collected.

As in the qualitative, the researcher uses triangulation data those are;

1. Observation

Types of observation that I use is 42participant passive. It means that passive participant is just observing and recording the condition of the school moreover inside the class without any interaction and communication to the student. The researcher or the observer just sits down and takes a look what are the things that both teacher and students are doing. Here is the step how researcher observes in the school;

Above, the researcher writes what are the steps of observation;

a. The Purpose of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher observes the purpose of teaching speaking skill inside the classroom by following the teacher how to present the purpose of teaching speaking skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy properly, how the purpose is delivered to the

student, and how the student understands the purpose. Because purpose is the first leading to continue into the next focus.

b. The Material of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher observes that the material used by the teacher is Simple Past and Simple Perfect Tense.

c. The Step of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher did the observation about the step of teaching speaking skill. Here is the sequence step; The teacher opens the class with salam, praying, check the absent of student, and giving an encouragement to always study hard. The core activity is the teacher starts to give the material by using the step from Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy which have 7 steps.

The researcher found that the main step or the most observable step through CTL is construct the material by them self and learning with the teamwork. The teacher than closes the meeting with the reflection of the student and giving the motivation for the student. The last is close the class with salam and praying.

d. The Evaluation of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy.

The researcher observes the evaluation done by the teacher is when the material is done. The evaluation is done by two ways ;

Spoken and Written. Spoken is when the student performs their results in pairs. While written is the text Made by the student than check with the teacher.

From several steps above, the researcher concludes that observation is for gaining the result of study the 4 research focuses in this writing. The observation is also for finding anything that is related to the concept of teaching. There are several steps in teaching concept, it describes about the intention on running the Contextual Teaching and Learning, the material to be discussed, the procedure, and the last is how is the reflection when 3 others finish.

2. Interview

The researcher understands several kinds of Interview. From the implementation method, there are:

a. Structured Interview

This type of Interview is also said a planned activity. Because before it is executed, the researcher has a list of the question that later she or he will automatically use the question to be asked for the sample.

This is the most effective interview type.

b. Unstructured interview

This can be said an unplanned interview. Because there is no guide to interviewing someone. The researcher just asks randomly to them.

From the amount of samples, there are also 2 kinds of Interview;

Individual Interview and Group Interview.

The researcher chooses the Individual Structured Interview which really did one by one personally. It helps the interviewer not feel shy or too open about opining their ideas or fact. The answer will be saved and secure. Also, the researcher asks more when the researcher feels it still needs deeper explanation.

The researcher writes the steps of Interview, those are ;

a. The Purpose of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher interviews Mr Syaiful Anam as the English teacher of X Grade, Leando Farel A.A, Ranesya M, and M.

Fakruddin F as the student of X Grade. The answer from Mr Syaiful Anam is various. The most talked is He often says that the purpose of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning is to encourage the student for finding the relationship between the material being studied and real-life situation.

Different from the interview from student that says that the purpose of learning English is just for practicing other language and for having fun.

b. The Material of Teaching Speaking Skill Through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher interviews the English teacher Mr Syaiful Anam, S. Pd and M. Fakhruddin F as the student. Both of them say that the Material of running Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy is actually flexible. But when this research happened, the Material is using Simple past and Simple Perfect.

c. The step of Teaching Speaking Skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy

The researcher interviews the English teacher Mr Syaiful Anam, S.Pd only to get the data about the step of teaching speaking skill. The teacher says that the main step is just let the student work in team or pairs to interact more and the movement is much better inside the classroom.

The teacher alives the classroom condition by giving the student independence to learn and understand the material by their own way.

d. The evaluation of Teaching Speaking Skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning

The English teacher, Mr Syaiful Anam, S.Pd saya that the evaluation sometimes done together with middle test and sometimes it is evaluated per chapter. But when This strategy run, the teacher does the evaluation after 2 meetings done and all materials presented to the student.

The interview done for describing deeply the information about the data and explaining the research focus of this study. The researcher interviews the informant and get the data about what is the objective in this strategy, what is the material discussed inside, how it operates, and the last is how the assessment at the end of the meeting.

3. Document Review

In this part, the researcher provides some documents to be displayed and proves how this research really runs truly. It can be pictures, a learning device (Media, tool, Lesson Plan), an observation sheet, a newspaper, a personal journal, etc. The data is achieved from the teacher.

The researcher consults with the teacher what are the document reviews needed in this research. The teacher prepares it and the researcher somewhere participates to make it.

In this research, the data obtained to the documents were:

a. The profile of SMA Nuris

b. The vision and mission of SMA Nuris c. The teacher and staff data of SMA Nuris

d. The Syllabus from X Grade contains Core Competence, Indicator, Material, Learning Activity, Assessment, Time Allocation, and Source.

e. The Scoring Rubric and Scoring Instrument that the contents are several aspects that need to be scored, the procedure of scoring, and how to count the total score of the student.

f. The lesson plans which contain: Learning purpose, Learning Model and Method, Media, Source, Learning activity ; Opening, Core Activity, and Closing, and the last is assessment.
