Programs in Supervision prepare students for careers in supervisory management with op- tional concentration in personnel relations, employee training and development, and in tech- nical writing. Careers in these fields may be pursued in almost any business or industrial or- ganization, in health care facilities, in governmental agencies, and in educational institutions.

Graduates of the programs are employed in hospitals, in industrial plants, in offices, and wherever the direction of human effort is needed.

The associate degree program provides a core of subject matter that is essential for acquiring skills as a supervisor. The bachelor's degree program broadens the students' general educa- tion, further develops their supervisory skills, and adds depth to their understanding of the behavioral and verbal aspects of supervision.

Associate in Applied Science - Supervision

The Associate in Applied Science degree with a major in Supervision contains a core of six required courses totaling 18 semester credit hours for which no substitution may be made.

The balance of the 63 semester credit hours required for graduation is made up of the follow- ing: 12 semester credit hours minimum in mathematics and science, 15 semester credit hours minimum in related technology, and 18 semester credit hours of electives.

The technology courses may be any courses offered by the Purdue University School of Engi- neering and Technology for which the student is qualified, or alternatively, may be courses dealing with the technology of the workplace that are acceptable to the counselor and to the department chairperson. In either case, courses should logically lead to the student's academic objective. The mathematics and science requirements may be satisfied by any combination of college-level mathematics and science that includes MATH 150 (or MATH 147 and MATH 148). The elective courses must be in the option which the student has chosen.

The following is an example of the course makeup of a typical Associate in Applied Science program in Supervision (many other course choices are possible):

The definitions and constraints on these requirements are similar to those in the associate de- gree program except that the elective area is open to any courses carrying degree credits. A Military Science option is available for ROTC students. Credit for ROTC courses must be ap- plied in the elective area.

Transfer credit toward this degree may be possible for graduates with a degree of Associate in Applied Science in Supervision, in a technology such as Electrical Technology or Mechanical Technology, or in a program deemed suitable by the department chairperson.
