CHAPTER II LITERATURE REVIEW
B. DISCUSSION
Discussion of the research presents the data that have been analyze in the findings. The data is from observation and questionnaire. The observation asked about how is the use of video in teaching English during Covid-19 pandemic. Then the questionnaire asked about how teacher used video in teaching and asked the students to answer it based on their experience, and the researcher aim to know the effect of using video in teaching English towards students’ achievement.
1. Video
Learning video is a medium for transmitting knowledge and serves as part of the learning process. More specifically, a way to teach by example and transfer information to complete a specific task. To support learning activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of learning video media can facilitate students to achieve the desired learning goals. The selection of learning videos must also be done with many considerations because the information in the video must be following the curriculum and school syllabus.
The learning videos used must be able to motivate students in learning so that students can easily understand the information contained in the videos that have been given. In addition to containing material and information, the learning video must also be interesting so that the learning process is more fun and can motivate students in learning.
In addition to paying attention to the information content of the video, the video quality also needs to be seen whether the condition of the video provided is good and
there is no noise interference in the video and also the image quality of the learning video must be clean so that students pay more attention to the video provided by the teacher.
Arief S. Sadiman stated that video is an audio-visual media that displays images and sounds. The message presented can be factual (events, important events, news) or fictitious (such as stories), can be informative, educative, or instructional.1
Cecep Kustandi revealed that a video is a tool that can present information, explain processes, explain complex concepts, teach skills, shorten or slow down time, and influence attitudes.2
In the cognitive aspect, videos can be used to provide things related to students' knowledge and intellectuals. while on the affective aspect, video programs can be used to train the elements of emotion, empathy, and appreciation of an activity or situation.
Video also has benefits that can help convey messages to students, by giving students interesting videos in student learning it will be easier to understand because the videos presented really explain well the learning material and the teacher is not only a facilitator but the teacher is also here to can explain if a student still does not understand some of the content of the video presented or hold discussions and questions and answers so that students are active in the learning process.

The purpose of using learning videos as a medium in learning the Covid-19 pandemic, namely as a medium for learning English is to facilitate students in learning, students can obtain subject matter not only in textbooks or only listen to explanations from educators, but by using In the video, students can be more interested or see direct examples of actions whose material has been explained by the teacher. In this case, students better understand the material, have broader insights related to the material that has been delivered by the teacher.
Based on the explanation above, using video in teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic as a learning medium has helped make it easier for students to learn and make it easier for teachers to teach. After taking English lessons, the teacher often gives assignments related to the videos that have been given.
2. The use of video in teaching English during Covid-19 Pandemic.
Based on observations made by researchers, the results of observations regarding the use of video in teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic can be concluded that there are several steps that the teacher must take before carrying out the learning process, namely, first, the teacher prepares a lesson plan or can called RPP, after that the teacher will prepare or look for a learning video that will be taught that day, but in preparing a learning video, of course, the teacher links the content contained in the video with the learning material, meaning that the teacher does not just look for videos for students to learn later.
After the teacher gets a learning video that is in accordance with the material, the teacher will distribute the video to the class group that has been created and students
are given the opportunity to study on their own then make notes about the material and are also given the opportunity to ask questions about the material. Then at the end of the learning process, the teacher will give assignments to students as a form of evaluation of the learning process.
From the results of the research above, it has been concluded that the theory described by the researcher in chapter two in this study is in accordance with the results of the research that has been carried out by the researcher, although the learning process is not carried out face to face, the teacher has done everything possible so that students can receive the material easily in every learning meeting.
3. The effect of using video toward students’ achievement during Covid-19 pandemic.
In this section the researchers aim to know the effect of using video towards students’ achievement during Covid-19. Before conducting the research, the research conducted interview with teachers at schools about what media was used during the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides giving questionnaire the researcher also did observation when the teacher teach their students in the online learning and the researchers be able to know about the uses of the video in teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on the results of the interview, the teacher used video as an alternative medium in delivering material to students’ English scores to see if there was a positive effect in using during the Covid-19 pandemic on student learning
achievement. In collecting data, the researcher took three classes as objects for distributing questionnaires and the total number of the students’ was 90 students’.
Based on the data collection that has been done, the researcher used a formula to analyze the data on both variables. Previously the questionnaire data was converted into numbers and then tested by simple linear regression with student scores to see if there was an effect. After being calculated, the significant was 0.279 and the range is on 0.279 > 0.05 which is interpreted as no effect between both variables.
From the result calculation of a simple linear regression test using video in teaching English during Covid-19 pandemic, it is known that the result of the sig.
0,279, because the significance is > 0.05 then Ha is rejected and Ho is accepted, which means that there is no effect of using video in teaching English on student achievement during Covid-19 pandemic.
From the explanation above there are two factors that researcher found why in using video it is not affected student’s achievement, because of the internal factors that affect student’s in learning such as lack of motivation, interest in studying, intelligence, and also physical condition. While there is also external factors that could help the student’s achievement such as family support, environment and learning process.
53 CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION A. CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the research about the use of video in teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic it can be concluded that the use of video in teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic is an alternative way that can make the teacher in learning process easier to deliver the material in learning online.
Then as for the results of the research on the effect of using video on student achievement, it can be concluded that from a simple linear regression test with a significance level of 0.279 > 0.05, it cannot be used to predict the variable students’ achievement or in other words there is no effect between the two variables.
