B. Discussion

This qualitative research deals with the students‟ perception about English Course toward their speaking ability. Is there any influence toward their speaking fluency after joining English Course especially for their self confidence. In this part will be explained clearly concerning the influence to students‟ speaking fluency (self-confidence) based on data of research findings.

Students’ Perception of the Influence of English Course toward the Students’

Speaking Fluency (self-confidence)

Fisrtly, the researcher will explained about the influence of English Course toward the students‟ speaking ability epecially students‟ speaking fluency. Speaking fluency (self- confidence) to be the important point of this qualitative research. Based on the result analysis in rearch findings of students‟ perceptions at buckingham English Course Makassar, the researcher find out that there is influence of the students‟ speaking ability especially the students‟ speaking fluency (self-confidence) after joining English Course.

They didn‟t shy anymore if speak up in front of their reguler classroom of their school.

They feel strongly confidence than before joined English course because they feel they can speak up because in Buckingham English course Makassar they always use English when they talk together with their friends. So, they used full English on Buckingham English course. They feel that Speaking English is to be their habit. Because of joined English course also their speaking more fluency than before.

Imran (2017) found that English club/English Course is one of the many way to improve students in speaking fluently. While Sar and Avcu in Gulrel (2015) there are two factors are found from their study; inner- confidence and outer- confidence. Inner- confidence is the ideass and feelings of an individual that shows how much a person is pleased and at peace with theirself. The elements of inner-confidence are comparised of the love of own self, self-knowledge, setting explicit goals and thinking positively. While the factors of outer-confidence are communication and the capability of controlling feelings.

Beside of the students‟ speaking fluency on the students‟ influence of English Course, the researcher also find out that there are 4 categorise; students being happy and funny in learning process, being more active in learning process, being improvement on

speaking ability, and having an addition knowledge and new experiences on learning English.

The students‟ perception on English course toward the students‟ speaking ability based on the research findings, those categorized as the influency of joining English course toward the students‟ speaking ability and it would be explained as follows:

a) Being Happy and Funny in Learning English

Based on the result of analysis, the researcher find out that all of the students felt happy and funny when they learning on English course. Because every meeting their teacher/tutor give some jokes and games in every learning process, if the students‟ did the mistake the teacher gave a funnys‟ punishment. Not only that, the students‟ happiness also came from their enjoyable and feel free because there is no specific rules on the class.

According to the result of Baihaqi (2016) found that all of the students admitted they had a positive response and felt happy to learn speaking through speaking club that encouraged their willingness to practice speaking. During the discussion, they showed their enthusiastic to speak in classroom and done all the assignments.

b) Being More Active in Learning Process

Ur (2000) states that some of the characteristics of successfull speaking activity are learner talk a lot, participation is even, and motivation is high. Besides of that Heilman (1981) contends that enthusiasm in language study, especially in speaking, is related closely to success, moreover they said active class participation is important in all the language skills, but especially in speaking. In addition, the

important point is that the students feel free to participate and to speak the language, any measure of skill is impossible without practice.

Based on the result of observation and analysis of the students‟ perception by their answers, the researcher concluded that joining English club could make the students‟ more active in the learning process. Not only speak up but also exicited to answer every oral and written questions that given by the teacher.

c) Being Improvement on Their Speaking ability

Improvement to be an important purpose in every learning process. Because almost of the learning process have the same purpose, is there any improvement after joining learning process. It‟s like the English course, is there any improvement after joing English course especially on their speaking ability. Because almost of the English course, they always considered on students‟ speaking ability.

Based on the result of the students‟ answer, the researcher concluded that, any improvement on their speaking ability especially on their speaking fluency (self- confidence) after joining English course. Because on English course. They were always trained to speak up, make conversation with friends use English. They should think that speaking should be their habit in their daily. It‟s suitable with the research of Baihaqi (2016) found that speaking club is really useful to imporve the students‟

speaking ability. It can help the students to have a good communicating and interacting with one another. Based on Karmilanda‟s (2012) research finding, she found that the speaking club improve the students‟ speaking ability because encourages and motivates them to practice speaking. The results of her research shown that they were more interesed in practicing English speaking in the speaking club.

d) Having New Knowledge and New Experiences about English

Mulyasa (2007) states that an extracurricular programs are certain held outside the school reguler time to supporting and improving students‟ competence. Because English course has many programs, like story telling, debate, drama, conversation class etc. Because of that, English course could make the students‟ find out an addition knowledge and experience because after joined English course the students‟

know many vocabularies, more confidence to speak up, etc.

Based on the result of the research, the researcher find out that after joining English course, the students have new addition in their knowledge and experiences.

Their improvement founded by the training every meeting. Every meeting the teacher gave many activities, such as; drama, conversation between another friends (use English), games etc. So, automatically the students‟ felt that use English or practicing English to be their habit in their daily activities.

Based on the reserach findings and the discussion, the researcher concludes that all of the students had a positive response and English course also had influenced for the students‟ speaking ability, English course can support the students‟ speaking ability. And according to them, English course also can improve the students‟

speaking fluency especially their confidence in speaking, English course also can encourage them to confidence to build a good communicate with another friend and tourist use English actively.

CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

In this chapter presented the conclusion and suggestions of this research. The conclusion was formulated from research questions, while the suggestions provided some ideas addressed to the teacher English speaking subject and The tutor for English Course.
