STEVEN SANDERS, ‘75, was recently selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2009. A partner in the firm of Williams Venker & Sanders in St. Louis, MO, he was recognized for his achievements in personal injury litigation as well as commercial and product liability litigation.
DAVID A. HAIST, ‘77, has been inducted into the Indiana Academy for his lifetime achievement and contribution to Indiana. The Academy recognizes individuals for their leadership, achievement and philanthropy that furthers development of business, public service, higher education, the arts and sciences, literature and the general culture of Indiana. Haist is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Do It Best Corporation, a $3 billion member-owned international hardware and building materials cooperative headquartered in Fort Wayne. He is also chair of the Parkview Hospital Board, and is former chair of the Manchester College Board of Trustees and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
DENNIS HAYES, ‘77, general counsel at the NAACP, was honored by the Indiana University School of Education.
ED PEASE, ‘77, has been appointed to the Indiana State University Board of Trustees. A senior vice president with Rolls Royce America, Pease was U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 7th District from 1997-2001. He was vice president for university advancement at Indiana State from 1992-96 and was a state senator from 1980 to 1992. He has also served as general counsel at Indiana State and as an instructor in the English department.
CARYL E. DELANO, ‘79, was appointed as a bankruptcy judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. She is a member of the Florida Bar, the State Bar of California, the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Federal Bar Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association.

MARY BOOTH STANLEY, ‘82, joined Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) as senior gift planning advisor. Prior to joining CICF, she was a partner at Baker & Daniels law firm where she practiced from 1982-1998.
CHRIS BRAUN, ‘86, a senior partner with Plews Shadley Racher & Braun, LLP, has been selected by the American
College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) as the leading environmental lawyer in the state of Indiana. Membership in the ACOEL, a professional association of distinguished private sector lawyers from across the United States who practice environmental law, is limited to one environmental attorney per state and is by invitation only. In addition to serving as long- time General Counsel for the Indiana Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association, Braun has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis since 2000 and currently serves on various not- for-profit boards.
PAUL FREDERICK, ‘87, has been named senior legal counsel for Asia at Chevron Global Gas in Singapore. Most recently, he was counsel at DLA Piper in Tokyo.

Isaacs is president of the Washington Township Schools Foundation and is a board member of the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis and Product Action Growth.

His series on “Legalities: Engineering and the Law” was judged the second best in the division for regular columns by a contributing writer for publications with a circulation of 80,000 or more.
STEPHEN K. TESMER, ’91, joins Attorney General Carter’s Office as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Indiana. He has joined the appeals division of the office. Tesmer previously served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Washington, Jefferson and Switzerland Counties.
JEFFREY SALMON, ‘92, joins Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, an intellectual property law firm, as special counsel.
He will focus on patent prosecution, strategic counseling, transactional matters, licensing and litigation.
GERALD W. ROBERTS, ‘96, has been elected to partnership status at Thompson & Knight. A member of Thompson &
Knight’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in Dallas, Roberts focuses his practice on complex business litigation, including litigation involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and other forms of intellectual property, and unfair competition. He also has more than ten years of experience as an electrical engineer and engineering manager, has held a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, and is a registered patent attorney in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
SANDRA SOVINSKI DRUMMOND, ‘97, has been named Managing Partner of Myers & Kaplan, Intellectual Property Law, LLC’s new Orlando, Florida office. The Florida practice will focus on patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property matters, including prosecution, litigation, and transactional matters.

White to found the law firm of White and Champagne. The firm is located on the nor theast side of Indianapolis, and the practice focuses on personal injur y, estate planning and family law.
JAMES J. BELL, ‘99, has been appointed a 2009 Vice President of the Indianapolis Bar Association. He is a litigation attorney at Bingham McHale LLP. Currently, he is on the Executive Committee of the Criminal Justice Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association (IBA). He is a member of the Indiana
Assessment Team of the American Bar Association’s Death Penalty Moratorium Implementation Project. He teaches Criminal Procedure for the IBA’s Bar Exam Review.
ERIN M. ENGELS, ‘99, joined IUPUI’s Paralegal Program as a lecturer for the Political Science Department. She previously served as adjunct faculty in the department for nearly 8 years.
