CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHOD
E. Techniques of Data Analysis
1. Scoring Questionnaire based on Eysenck Personality Inventory Eysenck Personality Inventory includes several instructions in scoring.
‘Lie Score’ is out of 9 to determine the subject honesty in answering.
The ‘E score’ is out of 24 to determine the Extraversion and Introversion level.
The ‘N score’ is out of 24 and measures neuroticism (Stable- Unstable).
This research only measures Extraversion level, only ‘E Score” of the data will be calculated. The procedures were mentioned below:
a) We need to check through all answers in the questionnaire. For example, the answer of question number 1 is ‘Yes’, gives ‘2’ score beside it. If ‘No’, gives “1” score beside it.
Table 3.1 Example of Question in Questionnaire

From the table ‘E score’ above, “Yes” determined the Extraversion personality and “No” determine the Introversion personality.
2. Scoring the Students’ Writing Test
There were two components that concerned of the researcher in this research to measure. Those were content and organization which used criteria as follows:
1. Content Classification
Score Criteria
Excellent 90–100 Shows a clear understanding of writing, topic and main idea
Very good 80–89 Shows a good understanding of writing, topic, and main idea development
Good 70–79 Shows some a good understanding of writing, topic and main idea, less development
Fair 60–69 Shows a little evidence of discourse understanding
Poor 0–59 No evidence of concept of writing
(Jacobs in Herlina, 2011:32)
2. Organization
Classification Score Criteria
Excellent 90-100
Logical sequence clear to reader, varied use of connectives maintain the flow of ideas
Very good 80-89
Logical sequence clear to the reader, connectives lack variety
Good 70-79
Sequence not clear to the reader, disjointed use of connectives
Fair 60-69
Disjointed sequence, disjointed use of connectives
Poor 0-59 No apparent organization
(Harmer in Islamiah, 2012:56)
The ways for writing test 1. Calculating the mean score
=∑ N
Where:
: mean score
∑ : the sum of sub total
N : the total number of respondents.
(Gay 1981:298) 2. Calculating the percentage of the students’ score:
Percentage = X 100 Where:
P : Percentage F : frequency
N : Number of subject

Overall the data computing were carried out with the aid of computer facilities (SPSS) version 16.0.
CHAPTER IV
FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter concerns with the data analysis of the research and the discussion. The findings of the research cover the data taken from the results of personality test about students’ extraversion personality and the students’ writing scores, and the correlation between them.
A. Findings
The findings cited below are personality test of the students that is divided into questioner, and then writing skill that is divided into two components in argumentative paragraph, namely content and organization.
The personality of the students is classified into moderate, extrovert, and introvert. The scores are divided into personality classification.
1. Number of Students’ ExtraversionPersonality
The data of the students’ extraversion personality were obtained through questionnaire. Through the students answers toward Eysenck Personality Inventory, 25 students were identified extraversion personality.
In this part shown the range score and percentage of students’
extraversion personality

The illustration of Table 4.1 shows clearly that 41.7% students have extraversion personality or 25 students out of 60 students are considered extraversion.
2. Description of Students’ Writing Skill
The data of the students’ writing skill were obtained through content and organization. Content is usually known as unity and completeness. Organization of the writing is how to arrange and organize the ideas logically.
To describe the students’ writing skill, the score of the two components are shown through frequency and percentage. The students score in content and organization are categorized into frequency and percentage.

It was described, If the significant value < 0.05, it means there is a significant correlation, then if the significant value > 0.05, it means there is no significant correlation.
B. Discussion
This section discusses the result of the data analysis. It consists of students’ extraversion personality, students’ writing skill and the correlation between students’ extraversion personality and their writing skill.
1. Students’ Extraversion Personality
Based on the result of the students’ personality test, it was found that the students’ personality dominantly was “extraversion” because most of them active in the class and enjoy participating in groups. It was related to the previous
reseacrh, the results show that extroverts seem to take full advantage of language- use opportunities as they tend to be sociable, and are more likely to join groups, more inclined to engage in conversations both inside and outside the classroom.
However, results have also concluded that a more introverted personality may be better suited to classroom learning, especially reading and writing skills. Risk takers; who are believed to be inherently extroverts, are more likely to take their existing language system to the limit. Such learners are more likely to change and more resistant to fossilization. Language proficiency is influenced directly by classroom participation which reflects, among other things, the contributing influences of risk-taking.
2. Students’ Writing skill
Based on the result of the students’ writing test, it was found that the classification of students’ writing skill was “Very Good”. The mean scores of students’ writing skill in terms of content and organization:
a. The mean score of students’ writing skill in terms of content
The mean score of students’ writing skill in terms of content was 83.68 in Very Good classification. The criteria of content in very good classification is shows a good understanding of writing, topic, and main idea development.
b. The mean score of students’ writing skill in terms of organization
The mean score of students’ writing skill in terms of organization was 79.76 in Good classification. The criteria of organization in good classification is sequence not clear to the reader, disjointed use of connectives.
Based on the result of the writing skill in terms of content and organization above, the researcher concluded that the students who included extraversion personality type have a good capability in writing skill with the mean score of students’ writing skill was 81.72. It was related to the previous research that has been described in previous chapter. The previous researcher described that extraverts and introverts have the capability to be proficient in writing skill. And also told that personality factors significantly influence the degree of success that individuals achieve in learning a second language. Especially, lots of studies have shown that extroverts (or unreserved and outgoing people) acquire a second language better than introverts (or shy people). That indicates a new light on the second language teaching methodology.
3. Correlation between Students’ Extraversion Personality and Their Writing Skill
Based on the Pearson correlation analysis, the correlation between extraversion personality and writing skill as described 0.047<0.05. This data was analyzed through SPSS version 16.0. Based on the correlation analysis above, the researcher concluded that the students’ extraversion personality and writing skill has a significant correlation where significant value<0.05. it means that H0: there was no significant correlation between students’ extraversionpersonality and their writing skill was rejected and H1: there was a significant correlation between students’ extraversion personality and their writing skill was accepted.
CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
This chapter consists of two parts, the correlation based on the result and discussion and suggestion was made from further study.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion, the researcher draws conclusion as follows: The personality of the students was dominantly as Extraversion category. The writing skill of the students’ extraversion personality was dominantly got very good classification with the mean score 81.72. There was a significant correlation betweenstudents’extraversion personality and their writing skill at the Second Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Bontonompo class IPA 1 and IPA 2. (0.047 < 0.05)
B. Suggestion
Based on the result of the research above, the researcher offers some suggestions for students of second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Bontonompo as follows:
1. The students join an English meeting or practice their English writing skill 2. The students should be active in learning process and must be recognize their
personalities.
3. The students’ extraversion personality should be fluent not only in speaking but also in writing skill.
