KIKO

Dalam dokumen Anime Art Class - Yoai (Halaman 174-190)

1 Using the pencil, draw the basic shapes of the head, neck, and upper torso. Kiko is facing forward.

At this stage, remember not to press too hard, as you will be doing a lot of erasing later!

2 Position the eyes and ears at a similar height. Draw her blouse with a sailor-style collar.

3 Kiko needs some hair. She has long, straight hair with face-framing bangs and layers and a

headband. Let’s give her an amazed facial expression. Add pupils and shine to her eyes and more detail to her shirt collar.

4 Our sketch is messy, so let’s use our erasers to clean it up. Use the white eraser to erase the guidelines as best as you can, then use the gray eraser to lighten all the lines, but do not erase them completely. Now refine the lines of the sketch and add more details to the hair, face, eyes, and shirt.

5 Using your fineliner, ink the character. To make your line art pop more, go over some lines again to make them bolder, such as the outside of each section of hair. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil lines completely using your white eraser.

6 Let’s add some base color. Skin: Use Pale Fruit Pink Pale (E000), leaving areas around the eyes white. Hair: Use Rose Pink (R81), leaving some white areas for highlights. I prefer to leave them in shapes that resemble the letters M, W, V, and N as “bubble letters,” because they are easy shapes to remember and draw consistently. Eyes, shirt (not the collar), and headband: Use Jade Green (G00).

Shirt collar: Leave white but use Warm Gray No.4 (W-4) to color areas below the hair.

7 Now it’s time to apply the shading. Skin: Use Silk (YR000) along the hairline and on the cheeks, nose, and neck. Follow this with Pink (RV11) to emphasize the shadows in these same areas. Blend the blush on the cheeks with Pale Fruit Pink (E000). Hair: Start with Pale Lilac (V12), focusing on the ends of the strands. Start from the bottom and drag the tip of the marker upward, putting less pressure as you go up in order to get a dark-to-light effect. Use So Violet (BV11) on the underside of the hair. Eyes: Use Robin’s Egg Blue (B02) for the top half of the irises, and create a reflection at the base of the irises with Silk (YR000). Shirt (not the collar) and headband: Use Aqua Mint (BG32), then use Robin’s Egg Blue (B02) to darken the shoulder areas more. Shirt collar: Use Warm Gray No.4 (W-4) to emphasize the shading you did in the previous step.

PAN

Pan likes to watch TV and relax while enjoying his favorite candy. He often eats a lollipop that everyone thinks is green apple, lime, or even melon flavored. Actually, it’s a cough

drop.

1 Using the pencil, draw the basic head, neck, and upper torso shapes. Pan is slightly turned to his right but is looking at us. At this stage, remember not to press too hard, as you will be doing a lot of erasing later!

2 Position the eyes and ear at a similar height. Draw the basic shape of his turtleneck sweater.

3 Pan needs some hair. He has short, thick hair that is a little messy. Let’s give him a mischievous facial expression. Add pupils and shine to his eyes, more detail to his ear, and the lollipop stick.

Use the white eraser to erase the guidelines as best as you can, then use the gray eraser to lighten all the lines, but do not erase them completely. 6 Let’s add some base color. Skin: Use Barley Beige (E11), leaving areas around the eyes white. Hair:

Use Warm Gray No.7 (W-7), leaving some white areas for highlights. I prefer to leave them in shapes that resemble the letters M, W, V, and N as “bubble letters,” because they are easy shapes to remember and draw consistently. Eyes: Use Ice Blue (B12), leaving the shine white. Lollipop: Use Spectrum Green (G02), leaving the stick white. Sweater: Leave white but use Warm Gray No.1 (W-1) to color areas that show folds in the cloth.

7 Now it’s time to apply the shading. Skin: Use Light Suntan (E13) along the hairline and on the cheeks, nose, and neck. Follow this with So Violet (BV11) to emphasize the shadows, especially along the bangs and below the chin. Hair: Use Cool Gray No.7 (C-7), focusing on the ends of the strands. Start from the bottom and slowly blend the color upward, creating a gradient of the warm and cool tones.

Use Warm Gray No.4 (W-4) on the white highlights of the hair to help blend them into the rest of the hair. Eyes: Use a mix of Robin’s Egg Blue (B02) and So Violet (BV11) for the top parts of the irises, and create a reflection at the base of the irises with Barley Beige (E11). Sweater: Use Warm Gray No.4 (W-4) to emphasize the shading you did in the previous step, darkening it at the corners of folds and the backs of the collar and shoulder.
