1 Using the pencil, draw the basic shapes of the head and neck, and a large, upside-down U shape for the torso, adding guidelines if needed. Lucy’s body is slightly turned to her right side with her head slightly tilted down, but she is looking at us. At this stage, remember not to press too hard with your pencil, as you will be doing a lot of erasing later!
2 Position the eyes on the face. Draw the book as a partial rectangle, then add the arms and hand so that they are cradling the book, rather than clutching it tightly. Since her legs are not visible, draw a simple school-uniform skirt shape with pleats, starting just below her arms.
3 Add some lines to the book to give it some depth. Lucy needs some hair and clothes. She has long, straight hair with face-framing bangs and layers. She is wearing a school uniform that has a short- sleeve, sailor-style blouse. Give the pleats of the skirt some more definition. You can erase some of the guidelines as you draw the clothes if they are getting in the way. Let’s give her a calm but surprised facial expression. Don’t forget the cat ears and tail!
4 Our sketch is messy, so let’s use our erasers to clean it up. Use the white eraser to erase the guidelines as best as you can, then use the gray eraser to lighten all the lines, but do not erase them completely. Now refine the sketch and add more details to the hair, ears, face, eyes, and clothing.
5 Using the fineliner, ink your drawing. To make your line art pop more, go over some lines again to make them bolder, such as the outside of each section of hair. I marked off an area at the bottom-le of the skirt with zigzag lines for a highlight. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil lines completely using your white eraser.
6 Using your brush pen, color in the inner ears and the shirt collar, sleeve band, and skirt, leaving the stripes and zigzag highlight white. Add shading and details with the hatching technique to the
underside of the hair, inner shirt sleeve, and stripe of the skirt. Finally, add some short lines to her cheeks and hair for shine.
PAM
Pam is laid back and relaxed. She enjoys swimming and jogging, though she won’t say no to just staying home and doing nothing. She’s good at balancing hard work and leisure
time.

1 Using the pencil, draw the basic shapes of the head and neck, and a large, upside-down U shape for the torso, adding guidelines if needed. Pam’s body is slightly turned to her right side and leaning slightly backward, but she is looking at us. At this stage, remember not to press too hard with your pencil, as you will be doing a lot of erasing later!
2 Position the eyes and ears at a similar height. Define her bust and add her upper arms. Her arms are positioned close to her body, rather than falling to the side.
3 Pam needs some hair and clothes. She has a long, thick, high ponytail with bangs and loose tendrils. She is wearing a tank top with a heart on it. You can erase some of the guidelines as you draw the clothes if they are getting in the way. Let’s give her a neutral, whistling facial expression.

Use the white eraser to erase the guidelines as best as you can, then use the gray eraser to lighten all the lines, but do not erase them completely. 5 Using the fineliner, ink your drawing. To make your line art pop more, go over some lines again to make them bolder, such as the outside of each section of hair. I made areas for highlights in the hair. I prefer to draw them in shapes that resemble the letters M, W, V, and N as bubble letters, because they are easy shapes to remember and draw consistently. I also marked off an area on her tank top for a highlight. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil lines completely using your white eraser.
6 Color the skin with the Toner Gray No.1 (T-1) Copic marker, leaving areas around the eyes white.
Using your brush pen, color in the hair and tank top, leaving the highlight areas white. Add some stray strands of hair to her ponytail and around her face with your fineliner to make it a little more
interesting. Finally, use the hatching technique to shade in the heart design and crosshatching to shade in the eyes.
ASH
Ash doesn’t like to be pushed around! He loves cats, and like the adorable felines, he’s not afraid to start a fight if you make him angry. In that case, slowly back away and you will
be just fine. Probably.

Ash is facing forward. At this stage, remember not to press too hard with your pencil, as you will be doing a lot of erasing later!
2 Position the eyes and ears at a similar height. Add the arms, legs, and feet. His hands will be in his pockets, so we don’t need to worry about them. Though his upper body is facing us, his feet and legs are turned slightly to his right.
3 Ash needs some hair and clothes. He has grown-out, messy hair that is being held out of his eyes with a sweatband. He is wearing a hoodie with an undershirt, sweatpants, and sneakers. When I draw hoodies, I prefer to make them oversized. There are many styles of hoodies, but his has puffy balloon sleeves. You can erase some of the guidelines as you draw the clothes if they are getting in the way.
Let’s give him a slightly annoyed facial expression as he blows a bubble with gum.

Use the white eraser to erase the guidelines as best as you can, then use the gray eraser to lighten all the lines, but do not erase them completely. Now refine the sketch and add more details to the hair, eyes, and clothing, including the cat designs on the hoodie and sneakers, as well as the folds on the sleeves where they go into the pocket of the hoodie. Don’t forget to add a shine spot on the bubble!
5 Using the fineliner, ink your drawing. To make your line art pop more, go over some lines again to make them bolder, such as the outside of each section of hair. I marked off an area down the outer side of the right pant leg and inner side of the le pant leg for highlights; however, you can also add these later on using the White gel pen. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil lines completely using your white eraser.
6 Using your brush pen, color in the sweatband, undershirt, and pants as shown, leaving the stripes on the headband and pant leg, along with the highlights on the pants, white. Finally, using the White gel pen, draw a thin line down the inside of his right pant leg for the seam.
