The coming of the ship. On the seventh day of lelool (harvest month), the ship he had been waiting for arrived to take him back to the island if hid birth. Almusta’s joy diminished with sadness. He will leave behind the things that matter, including the “shards” of his spirit that have been “scattered in the streets of Orphalese” Almustafa, the prophet, has lived in the city of Orphalese for 11 years.

The Orphalese heard that Almustafa was leaving, and then they started to gather. The prophet (al Mustafa) wondered what final wisdom he could share with those Orphalese people. Elders, priests, and the other begged Almustafa to stay.

Then the “seer” Almitra, the first of his followers to come out from the temple, knowing that the prophet had to leave, he asked him to “speak to us Empty and dark shall I raise

my lantern, and the guardian of the night shall fill it with oil and he shall light it also.

And when he entered into the city all the people came to meet him, and they were crying out to him as with one voice. (Gibran, 2020: 16) And there came out of the sanctuary a woman whose name was Almitra. And she was a seeress. (Gibran, 2020:

children are not wholly owned by their parents, but rather they are a guide for their children. Parents are prohibited from making their children think and behave like their parents, because children are their own person. The author emphasizes that children have a future in tomorrow, life is always moving forward towards the future.

Contextual meaning in this On Work section work is a natural part of life; work is a noble endeavor to fulfill life. AL Mustafa said when work is done with love, it creates a spiritual bond of “uniting yourself with others, and with God”. All work is noble if done with love.

Working without love will produce bad results, and at best there is no need to do so

And what is it to work with love? It is to weave the cloth with treads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth. It is to build a house with affection, even as if your beloved wear to dwell in that house. It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy, even as if your beloved were to eat the fruit. It is to charge all things

4 Joy and Sorrow

Joy and sorrow are Inseparable sides of the same thing and complements each other, what brings joy also bring sorrow. The deeper a person experiences joy, the deeper he/she experiences sadness. An emotion is no bigger than the other both are equally present in life.

On Laws describe that people make laws and break them at will like a child builds a sand tower on the beach and the destroys it with a big laugh. Laws are made by people who can change and create to serve the legislator.

Al Mustafa told the people that no teacher could impart his wisdom, because the teacher can only bring people into their own minds. Al Mustafa explained that someone has to find and think for themselves, the teacher only provides the right environment of faith and love in which wisdom can begin to grow.

The knowledge of God and understanding of the earth cannot guide by one person, they must learn this understanding for themselves.

The meanings on this prose poem is explain that a best friend fulfill needs such as love, joy, comfortable, and peace. When in silence, you hear their heart’s thoughts, desires, and hopes with your own heart.

Strengthen the spirit and allowing the sweetness of friendship to refresh your heart with joy and laughter is the only goal of friendship.

The meaning of this On Prayer is Almitra describes that you (a priestess) pray in times of stress, but you must also pray in times of joy and abundance. In prayer there is consolation in pouring out your sorrow and joy in pouring out your sadness.
