4.1.4 Research, Community Services, and Publication Profiles
The management provides the opportunity for the lecturer to conduct research, community services and published their work in a scientific publication. All of the lecturers have allocated time for research and community services. The opportunity was taken by all lecturers. No lecturer left behind the research and development.
From 2017 to 2020, the lecturers of the Mathematics Study Program conducted 61 research and publishing 20 national journal papers, 85 international journals, 4 HAKI certificates, and 6 textbooks. Apart from DIPA funds (DPP/SPP), research lecturers of the Mathematics Study Program also receive funds obtained competitively from Ministry of Research, Technology, nd Higher Education, including PUPT, BOPTN, and Beginner Research Grants. The amount of research funding varies between 7 million - 80 million rupiahs. For community service activities, 24 activities have been conducted with the total funds per activity ranging from 8 million to 60 million rupiahs (https://matematika.ub.ac.id/en/research/ and https://matematika.ub.ac.id/en/community- dedication/).

Figure 4.6Error! Reference source not found. shows the number of research grants in Mathematics Study Program from various sources. In general, the acquisition of research funds in the Mathematics Study Program increases from year to year, especially those from the university. There was a decrease in the amount of research funding from the ministry but there was a very significant increase in the acquisition of university funding. In the future, it is necessary to encourage lecturers to obtain research grants from ministries and other sources.
The number of research is also in line with the number of funds received, which increases from year to year, especially from university funding. Only 18% of the research is funded by a national competitive fund. There is no international research grant obtained by the lecturer.
The study program needs to concern about the number of nationally or internationally funded research grants.

Figure 4.7 shows the number of lecturers involved in research at Mathematics Study Program during 2017-2019. The number of lecturers involvement in research has also increased from year to year. Any lecturer involves a research activity. The number of the lecturer involved in the research activities is higher than the total number of the lecturer. More lecturers were involved in the two research activities. This shows that the enthusiasm of the Mathematics Study Program lecturers in research is very good. It indicates that the lecturer has adequate time for developing their competency through research activity. It also shows the strength of the study program in research

Figure 4.10 The Number of Textbook Publication during 2017-2019
Figure 4.8 shows the results of scientific publications in national and international scientific journals by the lecturers at Mathematics Study Program, both as main authors and co-authors during 2017 to 2019. The majority of lecturers publish their research results in international journals. Each lecturer publishes one international journal and 0.2 national journals per lecture per year. Generally, the number of scientific publications are in enaugh good, but still need to be improved. Figure 4.9 shows the number of scientific publications produced by Mathematics Study Program lecturers who were indexed by Scopus in the period 2017 to 2019, both as the first author and the second author. The average number of publications produced is 21 Scopus indexed journals per year. The average number of publications produced by the Mathematics Study Program lecturers is 0.71 journals per lecturer per year. Increasing the number and quality of scientific publications still needs to be improved in the future especially for young lecturers.
Figure 4.10 shows the number of textbook publication in Mathematics Study Program during 2017-2019. The textbook publications are depicted in 5. Only a few textbooks are published by the lecturer. It needs encouragement and efforts to increase it because the textbook publication is still low. In the future, a textbook writing workshop is needed so that there will be an increase in the number of books written by lecturers.
Besides the research, the lecturer of the Mathematics Study Program conducted community services. Figure 4.11 shows the number of community service activities, and Figure 4.12 depicts, the number of Mathematics Study Program lecturers involvement in Community Service activities. Although the amount of funding is not as much as research, all lecturers are involved in this activity. It still needs improvement by encouraging lecturers at the Mathematics Study Program to submit proposals funded by the national competitive fund.
