ADOPTED

THIRTY-NINTH ANNUAL CONVENTION KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL JULY 1982-CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

WHEREAS the Kiwanis International Foundation has generously rendered their services, has wholeheartedly supported and contributed to the entire Key Club program, especially through its sponsorship of the Valley Forge Leadership Training Seminar, the Key Club International Theme and Major Emphasis Filmstrip and the newly revised Key Club International Member- ship Development Audio-Visual.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International once again express its sincere thanks to President Ralph C. Keyes and the Board of Trustees of the Kiwanis International Foundation for its continuing interest and support of the Key Club Program.

SUPPORT OF INTERNATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE THEME

WHEREAS Key Club International realizes that the caring of the individual Key Clubber provides the basis through which the ideals of Key Club are achieved; and

WHEREAS Key Clubbers will be looking inward for the strength to implement the objectives of Key Club International.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International recognizes the need for each member to "get back to basics" and commits itself to the implementation of the 1982-83 theme "Strengthen From Within."

EVERY CHILD A SWIMMER

WHEREAS each year 7,500 people are victims of drowning in the United States alone; and

WHEREAS it is estimated that in countries where the Key Club organization is located, 70% of all young people at the 4th grade level cannot swim five feet, yet are physically and mentally able to learn to swim; and WHEREAS Key Club International has already begun a successful program of teaching and coordinating the teaching of these individuals to swim.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED triat Key Club International continue its support, in conjunction with the 1982-83 theme "Strengthen From Within,"

the "Every Child a Swimmer" program.

EXHIBIT B

EIGHT RECOMMENDED PROJECTS

WHEREAS Key Club International recognizes the importance of strengthening relationships within the family; and

WHEREAS the recommended projects of Key Club International currently are:

Major Emphasis, Support of Churches and their Spiritual Aims, Support of Schools, lnterclub Program, Model Kiwanis Program, Buddy Program, and Vocational Guidance; and

WHEREAS together, these projects establish proper guidelines for a more productive and successful Key Club.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that "Support of the Home" be the eighth Recommended Project of Key Club International.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each Key Club strive diligently to imple- ment these eight recommended projects to further promote the objectives of Key Club International.

HUMAN RIGHTS

WHEREAS one of the basic objects of Key Club International is to conserve, protect and enrich the right of free speech which makes possible the increase of justice and goodwill.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International affirms its beliefs that the denial and abuse of any person's rights is unjust.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Key Club International urges each member to respect the inherent rights of all individuals.

SPIRITUAL AIMS

WHEREAS support of spiritual aims is one of the eight recommended activities of Key Club International, and thus one of the basic foundations of Key Club International: and

WHEREAS our faith and beliefs are a significant part of our lives.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International continues its active participation in promoting spiritual ideals.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS the principal object of Key Club International is to provide service to the school and community: and

WHEREAS Key Club International strives to continue its efforts in membership development and growth: and

WHEREAS new Key Clubs and increased membership are necessary if we are to continue to expand service.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the new Key Club International Board give maximum promotion to new club building ~nd membership development, and to the reactivation of weak and inactive clubs throughout Key Club International by the use of various promotional materials such as the new membership development filmstrip, The Time Is Now!, provided by Key Club International.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each individual Key Club attempt to raise its membership to maximum levels and to bring Key Clubbing into new areas.

INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE

WHEREAS Key Club International provides numerous items of interest and importance to all Key Clubbers; and

WHEREAS the development of new literature and the updating of existing literature are vital to the progressive growth of Key Club.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that each Key Club is urged to utilize these materials to educate its members to their highest potential.

CONVENTION ATTENDANCE

WHEREAS Key Club International meets in International Convention each year; and

WHEREAS the convention is an unforgettable experience, providing an excellent opportunity to expand each member's knowledge of Key Club.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that each member of Key Club International encourage attendance at the 40th Annual Key Club International Convention in Hollywood, Florida, July 17-20, 1983.

KEYNOTER

WHEREAS the official publication of Key Club International, "Keynoter" is provided expressly for the purpose of enhancing communication: and WHEREAS it is the only publication of Key Club International which reaches each and every member.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International recognizes Editor David Dee for his major role in the publication of "Keynoter."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Key Clubs be encouraged to submit articles of interest to "Keynoter."

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

WHEREAS the Key Club International Board continues to promote programs such as International Service Day, Key Club Week, and K-Family Weekend:

and

WHEREAS these programs are extremely important to the development of an even stronger organization.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that each Key Club be urged to participate in these and other programs the Key Club International Board promotes.

RELOCATION OF INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS

WHEREAS the Kiwanis International Building, which houses the Key Club International offices, has been located in Chicago, Illinois, since 1959: and WHEREAS the offices of Kiwanis and Key Club International will be moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, in early September and will be dedicated on October 2, 1982.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of Key Club International wish the best of luck for a smooth transition to our new office in Indianapolis.

KIWANIS APPRECIATION

WHEREAS Key Club International recognizes the help and support sponsoring Kiwanis clubs and Kiwanians give to Key Clubs.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International thanks the Kiwanis International Board, Kiwanis District Boards, and Kiwanis clubs for their continued support of Key Club, both in the past year and in the year to come.

SPECIAL APPRECIATION

WHEREAS Cecile A. Martorano has given many years of faithful service to the Key Club organization; and

WHEREAS her services have greatly benefited our organization; and WHEREAS her friendship has enriched the lives of those whom she has directly or indirectly assisted.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Key Club International wishes to express its deepest appreciation for her 26 years of devoted Key Club involvement.

APPRECIATION

WHEREAS the speakers of the 39th Annual Convention have had truly inspiring messages for Key Club.

THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that we, the members of Key Club Inter- national, extend our heartfelt thanks to D. Michael Broome, President.

Each·Vice-President shall serve as chairman of at least one (1) standing or temporary committee o~ the Board of Trustees and as International Board Counselor for at least two (2) Key Club·districts. Each Vice-President shall be responsible for monitoring the progresc of six (6) Trustees and three (3) board committees as appointed by the President.

International shall, when the program of an annual convention specifies nomination of officers~as the order of business, receive nominations from the floor for the several offices to be filled at the Gonvention. All nominees for International office shall be in attendance at the convention. He shall also ••. " •
