This chapter presents a discussion of research findings related to the research objectives, namely students’ perception toward online reading materials on Schoology at Study Program of English Language Education of UIN Mataram.

The data obtained by the researcher that sourced from a questionnaire and interview of seven-semester students of English Language Education of UIN Mataram.

Furthermore, these data would describe based on the result of the students’ responses to the question.

A. Category of Online Reading Materials on Schoology

In this part, the researcher explained the data from the questionnaire and interview adopted from Benny Hinn Manalu. The researcher divided the online reading materials on schoology into 4 parts. There were motivation and interest in online reading materials on schoology, online reading efficiency on schoology, difficulty in online reading materials on schoology, preference for online reading materials on schoology or printed text.

1. Motivation and Interest

The result of the first section of the questionnaire showed a positive response due to the online reading interest in Schoology. It could be seen from the result of the first five questions where a big portion of the sample, 29 (51,8%) students chose to agree and 18(51,8%) students chose strongly agree as to their response while 14(25%) students are neutral, 5(8,9%) students disagree and 1(1,8%) student strongly agree. It indicated that the

This result was in line with Priscila Christian, who stated that online reading material gave positive benefits, effects, and attitudes for some students.38 In addition, she also stated that online reading materials were the problem solving for students reading interest. While this study also agreed that online reading materials on Schoology make students more interested in reading. The result was supported with the interview result in terms of positive response. Here one of the students who responded positively, said I do. It is because my teacher can send me the materials out of class without any limit.

2. Online Reading Efficiency

In this research, the researcher found that the questionnaires showed a positive response due to the reading efficiency using online reading materials on Schoology. It could be seen from question number 6 were 12(21,4%) students strongly agree, 25(44,6%) students agree, 12(21,4%) students neutral, 5(8,9%) students disagree, and 2(3,6%) students strongly disagree. Question number 7 was 16(28,6%) students strongly agree, 26(46,4%) students agree, 11(19,6%) students neutral, 3(5,4%) students disagree, and 0 strongly disagree. Question number 8 was 17(30,4%) students strongly agree, 21(37,5%) students agree, 12(21,4%) students neutral, 4(21,4%) students disagree, and 2(3,6%) students strongly disagree.

online, and the quick access becomes the main reason why online reading materials on Schoology takes positive response in this research "I like keeping required material in my gadget so that I can read them anytime and anywhere want to" this statement indicated that online reading materials facilitate students keeping their reading time maximally, because it can be accessed from their gadget. According to the respondent's interview, yes, besides becoming one of the platforms that focus on education, Schoology is also considered effective because the lecturer can share the learning materials. Post the assignment and give feedback to students. In addition, having online reading materials on Schoology improved students' learning experience, and also Schoology is providing an innovative and interactive environment that helps the students get a better understanding of online reading. Furthermore, this research following Benny Hinn Manalu, which provides results, learning with digital texts is effective, facilitates comprehension improvement, and increased learning achievement.

3. Difficulty in Online Reading on Schoology

The majority of the students encounter no significant problem in online reading materials on schoology. The most significant problem was eye irritation. "The light of the screen soon hurts my eyes while reading online reading material" this statement indicates that using gadgets through and through may harm our eyes. In this question, 12(21,4%) students strongly agree, 20(35,7%) students agree, 10(17,9%) students neutral, 10(17,9%) students disagree, and 4(7,1%) students strongly disagree.

Besides, Benny Hinn Manalu stated that the screen of Smartphone, computers, and tablet makes our eyes work harder. This statement is in line with the results of this research. In other research, Like and Afif stated that the results showed that students experienced three barriers during online learning, including unfamiliarity of e-learning, slow internet connection, and physical condition, e.g., eye strain.39

4. Preferences for Online Reading Materials on Schoology and printed texts.

The interview clarifies that students read both online and manual texts. However, online reading materials became more used because their lecturer provided online reading materials as the dominant one. Based on shared questionnaire, 29(51,8) students agree that they prefer online reading materials to texts book. Here are the student statements who agree with this study, I prefer better online reading materials because the reading texts book is very stagnant. The traditional feature brings a monotone that makes me feel sleepy when I read it. These research results are in line with Benny Hinn Manalu that provides students read both digital and texts. He also provides that the finding indicates both digital and printed are not very contrastive. Therefore the participants tend to perceive digital texts positively.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS

This chapter presents the conclusion and suggestions of this research. The conclusions are derived from the findings of the research explained in chapter two.

Suggestions are addressed to the English students, English teachers, and further researchers.

A. Conclusion

The findings of the study indicate that students show positive response toward online reading materials on schoology. The students participated in the study perceive online reading materials emerge positive experiences which facilitate them to read the materials anytime and anywhere. The study problem was answered by distributing questionnaires and doing an interview.. All of those categories of the questionnaire were perceived positively by the students.

It meant that this strategy has a good impact on them in the learning process.

Students agreed that online reading materials on schoology are a good LMS as it is easy to use and increased learning achievement. They also perceived that this LMS improved their reading comprehension by easing them in comprehending the digital texts, finding the larges of materials, and making them easy to access their materials without any limit. Therefore, it can be concluded that since students perceive the use of online reading materials positively, this LSM should be continued to be implemented in order to improve students reading comprehension.

B. Suggestions

Based on the research findings in this study, the researcher presents several suggestions for the English learners, English lecturers, and future researchers.

English students should pay more attention to the online reading materials shared by their lecturer used. English students can apply online reading materials that are shared as a way to learn English better.

2. English lecturer

English lecturers should be aware of online reading materials phenomena in their environment, especially in the school area. This phenomenon can be used as learning materials to understand language phenomena to the students.

3. Future researchers

The researcher suggests that future researchers conduct research related to language online reading materials. Future researchers might conduct any research to identify any aspect related to online reading materials. It is also suggested that future researchers expand the observation period to find more data. The researchers can also add many more respondents, and he can analyze the topic by using the qualitative method, which depends on the research objectives.
