NURWAHDINIAH, 2014. Using English Newspaper in Teaching Reading Comprehension (An Experimental Study at the Eight Year Students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung, Gowa Regency), under the thesis of English Education Department, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Guided by H. Bahrun Amin and Amiruddin)
The objective of the research was intended to find out the students’
reading comprehension improvement through the using of English Newspaper in teaching Reading Comprehension at the Eight Year Students of SMP Muhammadiyah limbung, Gowa Regency.
The researcher used an experimental study which was conducted by given reading test to the students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. The subject in this research was lots of student in 2013-2014 academic year with 47 students in VIII.4 class consisted of 24 female and 23 male. The instrument was reading test consisted of 20 items of multiple choice tests with four option.
The research findings indicated that the using of english newspaper in teaching reading comprehension at the eight year students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung, Gowa Regency was proved. By the mean score of post-test was 79.15 classified as good. It was higher than the mean score of pre- test was 59.25 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension.
