NURUL MIRSYAD MAHMUD, 2015. Improving The Students’ Vocabulary by Using ACC (Affixation, Conversion and Compounding) at Eleventh Grade Students of SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Tallo Makassar. English Education Department, The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Makassar Muhammadiyah University Supervised by Bahrun Amin and Ummi Khaerati Syam.

The objective of this research was intended to find out whether or not teaching vocabulary by using ACC (Affixation, conversion and compounding) technique can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Tallo significantly.

The method of this research was Classroom Action Research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at the eleventh grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Tallo Makassar. As subject in this research was class XI in 2014/2015 academic year with students’ number about 21 students. Those consist of 6 boys and 15 girls. The instrument of this research were vocabulary tests or evaluation tests.

The findings of the research were students score in vocabulary mastery by using ACC (Affixation, Conversion and Compounding), diagnostic test was 5,111 (Poor). In cycle I was 6.016 (Fair). It was improved become 7.175 (Fairly Good) in cycle II and the percentage of D test to cycle 1 improves 17.71%, cycle 1 to cycle 2 became 19.27% and D Test to cycle 2 became 40.39%.
