This research aims to find out students' ability to write descriptive text with vocabulary, mechanics and organization. Descriptive texts that are included in the text type that are not too difficult, yet found some difficulties that students faced when writing this essay this is the background of researchers doing this research. Penelitian ini aimitas untuk mengetahi pengantuan menuis teks descriptif siswa dengan kosa kata, mekanika og pengorganisatian.

Teks deskriptif termasuk ke dalam jenis teks yang tidak terlalu sulit, namun masih terdapat beberapa kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa pada saat menulis karangan ini, hal inilah yang menjadi latar belakang dilakukannya penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan pada komponen kosakata dan masih menggunakan kosakata bahasa Indonesia. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alamin, Alhamdulillah saya panjatkan puji syukur yang sebesar-besarnya kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, Allah SWT, Yang Maha Pengasih dan Penyayang, Pemelihara dan Pemelihara dunia.

The researcher focused on descriptive text taught in the eighth grade of SMP Unismuh Makassar. One of the texts that high school students must learn is descriptive text. Based on the title of the above study, the researcher hopes that all students' difficulties in writing descriptive texts can be known, and teachers are also expected to provide more examples and exercises on descriptive texts to students so as to achieve the purpose of access to education. , especially English subjects.

The researcher will conduct a study under the title An Analysis of Student’s Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at Eighth Grade of SMP Unismuh Makassar. Based on the above background, the researcher formulates the research question as follows: "What is the student's ability to write a descriptive text?". In relation to the above problem, the main objective of the research is to determine the learner's ability in writing descriptive text in the eighth grade students of SMP Unismuh Makassar.

Further researchers, the research findings are expected to provide information about writing in Descriptive Text. Teachers are also expected to provide more examples and exercises on descriptive text to students in order to achieve educational goals well, especially English subjects.

It is useful to keep in mind some of the many uses we are likely to make of writing. Even, the students also use some Indonesian language if they didn't know how to say the words in English. There is a small group with high frequency which is very important because these words cover a very large part of the running words in spoken and written texts and occur in all types of the language.

The text contains some words that are very closely related to the topic and subject of the text. They consist of specialist words for other subject areas, proper names, words that almost belong to the high-frequency list, and words that are rarely used in the language. Vocabulary is said to be the bone of language and without vocabulary language cannot develop.

Although English spelling is difficult, with diligent use of a dictionary and/or computer spell check, it is possible for every writer to eradicate all or nearly all of the spelling errors in a piece of writing. The purpose of punctuation in writing is to make the text clearer and easier to read. The main function of punctuation is to help the readers to understand the intention of the writer.

Proper nouns (the names of specific people, places, objects, streets, buildings, events, or titles of individuals) are always capitalized. McCarthy (1998, p. 5) also states that descriptive writing is the domain of writing that develops images through the use of precise sensory words and phrases, and through devices such as metaphors and the sounds of words. Based on the above definition of descriptive text, it can be concluded that descriptive text is a text that describes people, things or places that describe the physical appearance and characteristic of the object.

The concluding paragraph contains the conclusion of the topic and marks the end of the text. There are two important parts of generic structure when writing descriptive text, the first is identification and the second is description. The last is that the description of the object is written from general to specific (Sudarwati, 2007).

The sampling technique used by the researcher is purposive sampling as the subject of descriptive text is covered in eighth grade. In this case, the teacher gave the students such an instruction to write a descriptive text on their paper. Students' assessment was tabulated using the following criteria: Table 2.1 Writing scoring criteria.

Based on the scores obtained from the test, the research calculated the scores so that the finding of the research was revealed in the form of the information related to the analysis of students' writing skill in descriptive text of the degree eighth grade students at SMP Unismuh Makassar. There are five levels of the students' writing ability which include poor, fair, average, good, excellent Harris (1969). From the data presentation in general, it was found that the students' average score in writing descriptive text is 47.27 and according to the score classification.

The result of collecting and analyzing the data finding and to show that the average score in vocabulary aspect is 59 and according to the score classification theory the categorized as average level. Compared with the results of previous research that Lina (2016) in her thesis by the title: An Analysis of the Students' Ability in Writing ADescriptive Text on the Eighth Grade at MTsN Bandungin the Academic Yearof found that the average score in vocabulary aspect is 64 and according to the score classification theory it is categorized as good level. Compared to the results of previous research done by Lina (2016) in her dissertation entitled: An Analysis of the Students' Ability in Writing A Descriptive Text on the Eighth Grade at MTsN Bandung in the Academy Year or found that the average score in mechanics aspect is 46 and according to the score classification theory the categorized as average level. Compared to the results of previous research done by Lina (2016) in her dissertation entitled: An Analysis of the Students' Ability in Writing A Descriptive Text on the Eighth Grade at MTsN Bandung in the Academy Year or found that the average score in organizing aspect is 66 and according to the score classification theory it is categorized as good level.

As already mentioned in the first chapter, the purpose of this study is to describe the student's ability in writing a descriptive text focusing on vocabulary, mechanics and organization in eighth grade students of SMP Unismuh Makassar. The researcher wants to conclude that 17 students in VIII B2 in SMP Unismuh Makassar are still low in descriptive text writing. According to the conclusion of the study, the researcher recommends some suggestions for improving students' skills and reducing students' difficulties in writing descriptive text in SMP Unismuh Makassar, ka.

The researcher had observed that the strategy and material in learning to write descriptive text is good enough. 2017."An Analysis of Students' Proficiency in Writing Descriptive Text in Eighth Grade of SMPN 7 Tambusai Utara". An analysis of the students' ability to write a descriptive text in eighth grade at MTsN Bandung in the academic year.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Discussion

The identification consists of identifying the name of the place and the place, describing the complete functions of the place. The findings show that the average score in the organizing idea aspect is 43 and, according to the score classification theory, categorized as average level. In addition to the vocabulary score being 59, the mechanics score is 41 and the organization score is 43.
