INTRODUCTION

Background of Study

The PLEASE strategy can help students get started on their writing and is suitable for all genres/paragraph types.

In addition, this strategy helps the students to write independently because PLEASE strategy guides the students to find their own topic and ideas about what they are going to write. Writing ability of the tenth grades of MAN 1 Lampung Timur using PLEASE strategy in the academic year of.

The first preliminary research was conducted by Aminatun et al who researched titled "Using the PLEASE Strategy to Teach Writing Skills to Students with Different Linguistic Intelligences".1 The research method used in this research is a quantitative research method, specifically an experimental design. The third preliminary research was conducted by Fitri Yenti, who conducted a research entitled "Teaching descriptive text writing by combining the strategy of mind maps with the Select, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply, Finish (PROSIM) strategy in junior high school".3 Objective of the third preliminary research is that the PROSIM strategy was developed as a metacognitive writing strategy to help students plan and write compositions by modifying a highly structured step-by-step process. Based on the results of the preliminary survey, the writer finds an error in the students' descriptive text.

The subject of this current research is the tenth grade students of MAN 1 Lampung Timur. The result of the test of the students in post-test 1 was better than the test in pre-test before. The comparison of the students' percentage of completeness marks on pre-test and post-test I.

Based on the graph above, we could conclude that the PROSIM strategy could increase the number of students in writing an essay. Based on the above data, it can be concluded that the students felt comfortable and were active in the learning process, as most students showed good progress in essay writing when the PROSIM strategy was used in the learning process from Cycle I to Cycle II. d) Students' ability to perform the task.

Terminologically, Kate said that each piece of writing will try to do at least one of the following things. It starts from the beginning of what the subject will write to the publication of the writing.

When determining the topic of writing, the writers should consider who the reader of the writing will be. Before the writers begin to write properly, they must format the writing and put the words on paper.13 This step is often referred to as drafting. Harmer also argued that revision is often aided by readers commenting and suggesting writing15.

Using the PLEASE strategy, students learn to write all parts of a paragraph using the planning, composition, and revision components of the process approach. PLEASE strategy incorporates write components of the process approach into a strategy format using the mnemonic.

The writer would like to divide the research into two cycles of classroom action research. The writer makes a plan to motivate the students with the technique and it is based on the cycle. In classroom action research, the writer would like to divide the research into two cycles.

By the process of observation, the writer will know that the action achieves the goal of the writer's goal. By reflecting, the writer can gain information about the strength and weakness of the action that the writer has performed. When the writer finds the problem in the first cycle, the writer will fix the problem in the next cycle.

The author applied the same step in the previous cycle with collaboration, but they applied the revised plan such as lesson plan, material and tool for evaluation. In the third phase, the writer observes students' activity, their participation and makes notes about the learning process.

In this present research, observation is used to know the student's writing ability in the learning procedure. In this case, the author observes the students directly in the classroom and tells about the students' activity in the learning writing process. The real teacher also observes the author teaching in the classroom and the implementation of CAR based on observation notes already made before.

The data is collected based on the students' participation during the teaching and learning activity according to the lesson plan. The information obtained from this observation is used as a basis to determine the planning for the next cycle. Documentation is the method used to extract information from the written source or document.

In this present researcher the writer also uses documentation to know all data like,. In this survey was held on March 11, 2019, this implementation was exactly in MAN 1 Lampung Timur. The implementation carried out with students describe someone in their class and do it in the tenth grade.

In many professions it is a matter of good practice to make 'field notes' while you are actually engaged in professional action.30 This note has been systematically drawn up and interpreted by the research.

Data Analysis Technique

The researcher also planned to provide evaluation to measure students' mastery of the given materials. The researcher began the lesson by praying, greeting, checking the attendance list and asking about the condition of the students. From the outcome of the cycle II learning process, the researcher analyzed that overall the use of the PLEASE strategy would increase the number of students writing essays. It is therefore proven that the implementation of the PLEASE strategy increases the learning activities of the students using PLEASE.

Discussion

In teaching essay to the students of MAN 1 Lampung Timur, especially in students of X class, based on the pre-survey, there are some problems such as some students lack grammar mastery. The researcher used this strategy to organize students' idea and made students more active in writing essays in learning English. Based on the explanation of cycle I and cycle II, it can be shown that the use of PLEASE strategy can increase the students' written essay.

It is inferred that there is an increase in the students' overall grade and the overall grade for the students who have passed at least from the pretest. The result of the students' activities in cycle I and cycle II, there is an increase in the students' learning activity. Based on the result of the learning process of two cycles, the researcher would like to describe the conclusion that the writing ability could be increased through the PLEASE strategy in the tenth graders at MAN 1 Lampung Timur.

This can be seen on the progression from pre-test to cycle I and cycle II. This means that the result of cycle II has already achieved the indicator of success which was that 80 % of the students reached the minimum mastery criteria (MMC). In addition, PLEASE strategy can increase students' learning activity at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Lampung Timur.

Student activity in the implementation of cycle I and cycle II is very active and safe. It is better for the teacher to use the PLEASE strategy in teaching English especially in writing because it can increase the students' writing ability c. Students are suggested to be more active in the learning process in the classroom and improve their writing skills in order to be successful in learning English.

To support the English teacher to use the PLEASE strategy in the teaching process, because the PLEASE strategy is very useful. Liza, Mona & Refnaldi.
