One of the purposes of the assessment is to know students' reading skills and to measure students' level of success in learning. A short answer test is a type of test that is commonly used because the question is easy to ask and it is possible to interpret students' answers to see if they really understood. Short-answer questions are easy to create, but the questions require students to think about the possible outcomes of the question.
Also, questions are used to test students' understanding of text concepts. This study was limited to the assessment of narrative text reading using the short answer test of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Jenangan in the academic year 2015/2016. For the present study the researcher only researches on the examination of reading skills of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Jenangan.
It is expected that the meaning of the research will develop short answer technique as the way to assess reading. The importance of the research is expected to make students more autonomous in learning to read. Ebel & Frisbie,1985: 85) Thus, the degree of difficulty of the questions in the assessment tool affects the degree of reliability.
There is a lot of research that has been done before regarding the thesis discussion.
RESEARCH METHOD
In this research, the population of tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Jenangan was 89 students in the academic year 2015/2016. Webster said that a sample can be defined as a finite part of a statistical population whose characteristics are used to estimate the population as a whole.39 It can be explained that a sample was part of a population. The sample is representative of the studied population. 40 When determining the sum of the sample members, the researcher can use some formulas or look at the scale of the research population table.

However, if the population was less than 100 people, the researcher used the entire population as a sample. In this research, the researcher used Gay and Dhiel's theory to select the number of samples.
Charles, C.M said that “The cluster sampling technique involves the random selection of groups that already exist.43 Because there are no significant differences between the classes and the selection is based on ability, the researcher chose class X4 as the sample. Point Analysis Test on Short Answers in the Assessment of Narrative Reading in the tenth grade students of SMAN 1. In this study, documentary technique was used to obtain data on the names of the students, the condition of the teachers and staff, the vision, the missions, the goals , objects. , the infrastructure and organization of the structure of SMAN 1 Jenanagan.
Data analysis involved processing the data obtained using formulas or rules applicable to the research or design approach being followed. To analyze the item test on the short answer test in the assessment of narrative reading among the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Jenangan in the academic year, the researcher used validity and reliability. Validity test was a requirement imposed on a short answer test to determine the effectiveness of the test question items.
In this study, the researcher used a formula from SPSS 19.00 for Windows 8 to calculate the data. There were some formulas that can be used to calculate the reliability result, such as KR-21. The researcher used cronbach alpha from SPSS version 19.00 for Windows 8 to analyze the reliability of the data.
RESEARCH FINDING
Four years after the establishment of the institute, precisely in 2007, SMAN 1 Jenangan received B (good) accreditation status. The building is located at an altitude of approximately 350 meters above sea level and is located on the slopes of Dangean, so the terrain is hilly. SMA Negeri 1 Jenangan is located in Semanding village because the price of land in this area is still relatively cheap.
Before the establishment of the school, the land was used as a farm by one of the villagers. The goal of SMAN 1 Jenangan in forming students who have good moral, physical, intellectual, social and religion, holding fast to the nature of character. The data descriptions in this research were a short answer test on the students' narrative reading assessment of the test's questions, the answer key and the students' answer sheet.
Each pigeon picked up part of the net and together they flew away, carrying the net with them. So when Sidopekso returned, the king told him that his wife was unfaithful to him. Data analyzed by the researcher formed the students' answer sheet.
If the formula calculation result is less than 0.200, the result is categorized as very low reliability. If the formula calculation result is between the result categorized as very high reliability. From the above result, it can be concluded that the reliability of the test was very high, because this result was more than 0.800.
The purpose of this study was to provide a picture of the test score validity and reliability of the short answer test in the assessment of narrative reading in the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Jenagan in the academic year 2015/2016. Referring to the above explanation, the validity of the test analysis with the formula given in SPSS 19.00 for windows 8. It means that 90% of the result was more than rtable and 10% of the result was less than rtable.
In addition, the test had to be analyzed to determine the validity and reliability of the items. Finally, the teacher must analyze the test result of the exam, as well as the test makers, because the teacher must get a lot of feedback from the result.
CLOSING
Because a long question is not necessarily a long answer, so students should familiarize themselves with answering the question briefly and accurately. For the teacher doing an assessment test the questions should be analyzed to know the validity and reliability of the test and to save the good article to use for the next assessment test. The researcher suggests that future researcher use this research as a review or input to conduct further research of the same aspect of the study.
