AU Libraries Strategic Plan, 2021

The Alfred University Libraries will provide quality services, resources, and spaces that advance the mission of the University and its academic programs by striving for excellence and innovation by being progressively more:

 Inclusive

 Unified

 Transformational

Goal 1: Inclusive

We will embody our “Commitment to Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression” by taking action to demonstrate this commitment and expanding it to be more broadly inclusive to other marginalized identities.

a. Create more inclusive collections b. Build a more inclusive environment c. Educate ourselves

d. Advocate for DEI initiatives across campus and beyond e. Expand Commitment to include other marginalized identities

Goal 2: Unified

We will complete the Libraries’ reorganization and develop creative collaborations that extend across campus.

a. Articulate and live out being the united AU Libraries, while also celebrating the uniqueness of each library

b. Develop library collaborations across Teams

c. Cultivate campus-wide collaborations and partnerships beyond campus

d. Provide a nurturing work environment that values, supports, and takes care of our people

Goal 3: Transformational

We will contribute to lifelong student success and growth by empowering students, meeting each individual where they are and equipping them to dynamically impact our world.

a. Deliver Information Literacy instruction aimed toward lifelong learning & student empowerment b. Provide excellent patron service through personalized attention

c. Nurture student workers with mentoring and career skill building

d. Foster connections to and participation in campus student success and retention efforts e. Furnish collections that support our transformational programs and curricula across campus
