physical & mental. In my opinion, this material is important to convey to all my friends, because mental and physical health contains many important aspects for the balance of human life, so it must receive attention and be well understood in society.
Okay, before going into the material, here I will first ask which according to my friends is more important; mental health or physical health? Your opinion may vary. Some say physical health is more important than mental health or maybe vice versa. But in reality, the physical and mental are two things that complement each other, so the balance of physical and mental health is very important.
Now we will discuss the meaning of physical health and mental health and the relationship between the two.
What is mental health?
Mental health does not only mean limited; the state of someone who is free from disabilities or mental disorders, you know. More than that, the World Health Organization (WHO) explains that mental health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. This is supported by the
understanding of Pieper and Uden, that mental health is a state in which a person does not feel guilty about himself, has a realistic estimate of himself and can accept his shortcomings or weaknesses, is able to deal with problems in his life, has satisfaction in life. social life, and have happiness in his life.
What is Physical Health?
Many people understand that the term 'health' is only related to physical health. However, in reality, physical health is only one element of an individual's total health and is just as important as mental health.
In simple terms, physical health refers to an individual's physical condition in which all parts of the external organs and internal organs are functioning properly. However, with the increase in health care, the definition of physical health has also evolved to suit current living conditions. Therefore, physical health is more accurately defined as the ability to carry out daily activities and comfort with the body one has.
So what is the relationship between physical and mental health?
In this case, our mental health is affected by the hormones released by the endocrine system. The endocrine system is closely related to our brain. For example, the elderly who have good physical health have better memory capacity than the elderly who have poor physical health. Then, we can find in everyday life, people who have an illness, are sick, or have been diagnosed with an illness will usually be sad, have difficulty sleeping, worry, and so on.
Healthy people tend to be happier and happier than people who are sick. Looking at some of the examples above, it can be seen that physical health is related to mental health.
Vice versa, when someone who is having various problems or problems, then it feels so heavy, to the point that the problem is thought about in a protracted manner until it finally falls ill. Previously only mental health was disturbed, after a while physical health was also disturbed. We often don't realize that this can happen. Therefore it is very important to know how to maintain a balance of both physical and mental health.
How to maintain a balance of physical and mental health?
Actually there are many ways to maintain physical and mental health, some of which are; exercise regularly, get enough sleep, avoid consuming alcohol and illegal drugs, relaxation techniques, focus on the positive, communicate with others, etc.
So, in this video, I will focus on discussing sports as a way to maintain physical and mental health.
When I exercise like a workout or something else, the mood feels more pleasant. It could even be addicted to exercise. It turns out that exercise can indeed improve mood.
Exercise triggers the body also works from within to elevate mood. Intense exercise can trigger the brain to release neurotransmitters, namely endorphins. Endorphins are in charge of "sending messages" to the body to relieve pain and also reduce stress.
The positive impact of endorphins on the body is interpreted to have the same effect as morphine. The euphoria that comes after intense exercise makes you feel more energized and excited.
Because of its effect on making a happier mood, exercise is an "antidepressant" for dealing with depression and anxiety in a person.
Not only endorphins, the brain also stimulates the release of the hormones dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline. All three play an important role in setting your mood.
Of the many benefits of exercising to improve your mental and physical health, here are some tips for friends to enjoy exercising:
1. Wear sports clothes/shoes. that way, it means that you are also supporting sports as your new positive activity, so that you are even more excited to live it. This particular sportswear doesn't have to be brand new. Most importantly, you can adjust sports clothes that make you excited, for example by wearing clothes that are comfortable or match your favorite color.
2. Expand to look for references and view sports / workout videos. That way you will be more motivated and interested in exercising.
3. Confirm your intention to exercise. Always remember your biggest reason so you don't give up. Also remember that being healthy or ideal by exercising requires sacrifice and strong determination.
