Das Protokoll der letzten Sitzung wurde angenommen
wie verlesen.
Die Abstimmung über den Antrag, den Turnlehrern
C. F. Koch und Rob. J. Mazeck das Turnlehrerdiplom
zu verleihen, ergab einsimmige Annahme derselben.
Ein Schreiben von Dr. Dudley A. Sargent, worin er sich
für die Verleihung des Grades Master of Science in
Gymnastics bedankt, lag vor. Direktor Rath teilte
mit, daβ er Dr. Sargent eingeladen habe, bei der
Schluβfeier zu sprechen, daβ aber noch keine Antwort
eingetroffen sei.
Die Administrativbehörde legte ein vorläufiges Programm
für die Schluβfeier vor, das gutgeheiβen wurde.
Auf Antrag Scherer’s wurde beschlossen, für die Abiturienten
des Normal College Pergamentdiplome drucken
zu lassen.
Auf Antrag der Administrativbehörde wurde beschlossen,
Frl. Elsa Hein für das nächste Schuljahr als Assistentin
anzustellen mit $90 Monatsgehalt für zehn Monate.
Die Einrichtung eines Dormitoriums wurde beschlo
besprochen und bis zur nächsten Sitzung zurückgelegt.

Schluβfeier des Turnlehrerseminars.
Im Turnlehrerseminar des Nordamerikani=
schen Turnerbundes fand am vergangenen
Samstag unter starker Beteiligung auswärtiger
Besucher die jährliche Schluβfeier statt. 31 Se=
minaristen erhielten das Zeugnis der Reife; 20
sind künftige Turnlehrer und 11 Turnlehrerinnen.
Als die Abiturienten am Nachmittag mit den 31
für den zweiten Kursus zurückbleibenden Semi=
naristen zum letzten Male unter der Leitung ihres
Lehrers, des Seminardirektors Emil Rath, zu
einer einstündigen Übung im Turnsaal antraten,
ward ihnen von den Besuchern lauter Beifall zu=
teil, denn schon der Aufmarsch der kräftigen
jungen Männer und Damen machte einen vorteil=
haften Eindruck. Mit berechtigtem Stolze schau=
ten die Mitglieder des Verwaltungsrates darein,
die ihre jahrelange Arbeit im Interesse dieser
Turnlehrerbildungsanstalt von Jahr zu Jahr mit
gröβerem Erfolge gekrönt sehen.
Die eigentliche Schluβfeier ging am Samstag=
abend im Auditorium des Deutschen Hauses vor
sich. Der Raum bot kaum genug Platz für die
Besucher. Auf der Bühne waren die Abiturienten
und die Redner des Abends plaziert. Nach einem
Vortrag des Schellschmidt=Trios sang der Män=
nerchor des Musikvereins, und als erster Redner
erhielt Prof. Thomas C. Howe, Präsident des
Butler College in Irvington, das Wort. Er
sprach eindrucksvoll zu der Klasse von den Pflich=
ten und Freuden des Turnlehrers. Nach ihm
sprach Herr Karl G. Rathmann, Hilfssuperinten=
dent der öffentlichen Schulen von St. Louis, in
Deutsch. Herr Rathmann ist seit vielen Jahren
mit den Bestrebungen des Nordamerikanischen
Turnerbundes und mit der Arbeit des Turn=
lehrerseminars genau vertraut. Er gab einen
Überblick über die Wirksamkeit des Bundes im
Interesse einer rationellen Körpererziehung, und
betonte, daβ die allgemeine Aufnahme des Turnens
in diesem Lande zum gröβten Teil ein Ver=
dients der deutschen Turner ist. Er sprach beson=
ders den Indianapoliser Turnern seinen Glück=
wunsch aus für ihr zielbewuβtes Streben, dem der
Aufbau dieser gediegenen Anstalt zum groβen
Teile zu verdanken ist.
Ferner sprachen drei Mitglieder der Klasse,
nämlich Georg Altmann für die ausscheidende
Seminarklasse, Leopold Zwarg für die Elemen=
tarklasse und Frl. Cecelie Heibrunn für die Klasse
von 1914.
Die Verteilung der Diplome an die schon in
letzter Nummer der Turnzeitung genannten Abi=
turienten nahm der Präsident des Verwaltungs=
rats, Turner Franklin Vonnegut, vor. Von den
Turnlehrern, die durch Verleihung von Diplomen
ausgezeichnet wurden, waren die folgenden zu der
Feier erschienen: Alvin E. Kindervater, Dr. Karl
Ziegler, Richard Meller, Dr. W. A. Ocker, Oskar
E. Ruther, Kurt Toll, Heinrich Etling und Karl
F. Koch.
In Verbindung mit der Schluβfeier fand die
jährliche Versammlung der Alumni Association
des Turnlehrerseminars statt. Die Abiturienten
wurden in die Vereinigung aufgenommen. Da in
Denver nach dem Turnfest eine Versammlung der
Turnlehrerschaft stattfinden wird, um die geplante
Verschmelzung mit der Alumni Association zu
besprechen, wurden die Mitglieder Emil Rath,
Richa……eller und Hans Reuter an einen Aus=
schuβ …annt, um die Alumni Association bei den
Verhandlungen zu vertreten. Der Plan, im näch=
sten Schuljahr Schritte zu unternehmen, um in
verschiedenen Städten Lokalvereinigungen der
Alumni Association zu gründen, wurde be=
sprochen und den Beamten zur Ausführung über=
tragen; desgleichen der Plan, eine vierteljährlich
erscheinende Schrift (offizieles Organ) herauszu=
geben. Die neuen Beamten der Vereinigung sind:
Präsident, Dr. Karl B. Sputh; Vizepräsidentin,
Frau Frances Metzger; Sekretär Dr. W. A.
Ocker; Schatzmeister, Kurt Toll; Verwaltungs=
rat, Emil Rath, Georg Vonnegut und Dr. H. O.

Am Samstagmittag setzten sich 75 Personen
zum B..nkett nieder, das die Alumni Association
der schdenden[ scheidenden] Klasse gab. Dr. Karl B. Sputh
fungiee [fungierte] als Toasmeister. Auβer ihm sprachen

Semin director Emil Rath über “Die Zukunft”

Last meeting’s minutes were approved as read.
The vote on gymnastic teachers’ C. F. Koch and Rob. J. Mazeck applications for the gymnastic teacher diploma ended with a unanimous agreement both be awarded the diploma.
A letter had been received from Dr. Dudley A. Sargent in which he thanks for the awarded degree of Master of Science in Gymnastics. Dean Rath reported that he has invited Dr. Sargent to speak at the commencement ceremony, however no response has been received yet.
The Administration Office submitted a draft of the commencement program that was approved.
Scherer moved to have the diplomas for the Normal College graduates printed on vellum.
Motion granted.
The Administration Office moved to hire Ms. Elsa Hein as an assistant for the next school year – a 10-month contract, with $90 monthly salary. Motion granted.
The building of a dormitory was deci discussed and tabled until the next meeting.

Commencement Ceremony of the Gymnastic Teacher Seminary
The annual commencement ceremony of the Gymnastic Teacher Seminary of the North American Gymnastic Union took place last Saturday. Many guests were present.31 students received the testimony of maturity: 20 men and 11 women are future gymnastics teachers.
When the graduates and the 31 students remaining in the Seminary for their second year entered the gym for the last time under the leadership of their teacher, Dean Emil Rath, to perform a one-hour long exercise, the loud applause of the audience greeted them. The parade of strong young men and ladies was most impressive. With justified pride, the members of the Board of Trustees looked at them. Their work in the interest of this institution for the education of gymnastics teachers has spanned several years and each year has been more successful than before.
The actual ceremony began on Saturday evening in the Auditorium of the German House. The room was barely big enough to accommodate all guests. The graduates and the evening’s speakers were seated on the stage. After a presentation by the Schellschmidt Trio, the men’s choir sang and after that, Prof. Thomas C. Howe, President of Butler College in Irvington took the stage as the first of the speakers. He gave an inspirational talk to the class about the duties and joys of the gymnastic teacher. After him, Mr. Karl G. Rathmann, assistant superintendent of St. Louis’ public schools, spoke in German. Mr. Rathmann has been very familiar with the endeavors of the North American Gymnastic Union and the work of the Gymnastic Teacher
Seminary for many years. He gave a concise presentation of the potential of the Union in the interest of effective physical training and education. In addition, he emphasized that the general acceptance of gymnastics in this country is mostly the accomplishment of German gymnasts. He congratulated especially the gymnasts of Indianapolis for their purposeful efforts to which this highly accomplished institution owes its existence.
In addition, three students spoke: Georg Altmann on behalf of the graduating class, Leopold Zwarg for the elementary class and Ms. Cecelie Heibrunn for the class of 1914.
The president of the Board of Trustees, Turner Franklin Vonnegut presented the diplomas to the graduates listed in the last issue of the Turner Zeitung (Journal). Alvin E. Kindervater, Dr.
Karl Ziegler, Richard Meller, Dr. W. A. Ocker, Oskar E. Ruther, Kurt Toll, Heinrich Etling and Karl F. Koch were some of the gymnastic teachers awarded a diploma who attended the ceremony.
In connection with the commencement festivities, the annual meeting of the Alumni
Association of the Gymnastic Teachers Seminary took place. This year’s graduates joined the Association. Because, after the gymnastic festival, there will be a meeting of the gymnastic faculty in Denver to discuss the planed consolidation with the Alumni Association, Association members Emil Rath, Richa… [Richard] …eller [original document damaged here] and Hans Reuter were elected on a committee to represent the Association at the negotiations. A plan was discussed to take measures in the next school year to establish local chapters of the Alumni Association in different cities. The plan was submitted to the Association’s officers to set in motion. Another plan sent on to them for further action was the publication of a quarterly journal, an official organ of the organization. The new officers of the Alumni Association are:

On Saturday, at noon, 75 people came to the banquet organized by the Alumni Association of this year’s graduating class. Dr. Karl B. Sputh acted as toastmaster. In addition, Alvin ..
