Sitzung am 17 Oktober 1914

Anwesend waren Fr. Vonnegut, Dr. Pantzer, Scherer

Rath + Westing.

Der Beschluβ in der letzten Sitzung, Fräulein Lola

Pfeiffer nicht in das Seminar aufzunehmen, wurde

auf Antrag der Adm. Behörde in Wiedererwägung

gezogen.

Meeting on October 17, 1914.

Present: Fr. Vonnegut, Dr. Pantzer, Scherer, Rath and Westing.

The Admin. Office urged to reconsider the decision made at the last meeting not to admit Ms.

Lola Pfeiffer in the College.

Rath proposed and Scherer seconded to admit Ms. Pfeiffer in the College next year under the conditions that the College will not be made responsible in the case of an accident and that she will not receive a job recommendation from the Board of directors. Dr. Pantzer was of the opinion that Ms. Pfeiffer is not suitable for the profession of the gymnastic teacher and voted against this proposition.

An invitation to the Panama Exhibit came in from San Francisco. Rath and Lieber were instructed to find out more about this event.

The following notification was received from the Chas. A. Greathouse, Supt. (Superintendent) of the Dept. of Public Instruction of Indiana.

Gymnastic Teacher Seminary of the North American Gymnastic Union

The Gymnastic Teacher Seminary of the North American Gymnastic Union, which, since its relocation to Indianapolis, has been accredited by the federal education authorities as a Class A institution for the education of teachers, is now accredited in Class B and C following a decision of those authorities. Class C is the highest rank of such institutions. This means an even higher

(10)

honor for the Seminary as it did not apply to be admitted in a higher class. The federal education authorities based their decision on the report received from their committee consisting of high school inspector A. D. Real and the superintendent of the public schools in Lebanon, Ind., H G. Brown. The following communication was addressed to the Gymnastic Teacher Seminary:

Dean Rath reported that an additional semester hour was assigned to Mr. Ray for the

Physiology class and that he will take over the Elementary Physiology class. Also, an hour and a quarter for Gymnastics was given to [Hans} Reuter.

It was decided to waive $37 dollar from Ms. Arbuckle’s $87 tuition because she paid full tuition for three consecutive years. She attended the two-year course in separate sections to lighten up her workload.

Rath reported that Ms. May Paddock was hired as a temporary swim instructor.

Applicant Pendleberry was admitted as a student because, in a discussion with Rath, he expressed his belief that he will master his stutter.

A letter from Arvin Stecher from Philadelphia was read in which he expresses his profound thanks for all he has learned in the Seminary.

A notification was received from the National Executive Committee that gymnastic teacher Alvin Kindervater from St. Louis was elected as a member of the Board of Directors.

(12)

Scherer moved and Dr. Pantzer seconded to ask the National Executive Committee to send representatives to the next meeting of the Department of Superintendent,

which will take place in February in Cincinnati.
