THE APPLICATION OF THE ENGLISH DAY PROGRAM TO IMPROVE THE STUDENTS SPEAKING PERFORMANCE AT THE ELEVENTH GRADER OF MAN 1 LAMPUNG TIMUR. The students in MAN 1 Lampung Timur have low performance in speaking in English and they are also difficult to achieve speaking performance. So, Application English Day program aims to know whether this strategy can improve the students' speaking performance or not.

In this program, the teacher gave a new vocabulary to the students and asked the students to memorize it. Next, the students used the new vocabulary that they have memorized to also practice speaking English. In cycle 2, student activities consisted of 28 active students (100%) and 0 inactive students (0%). This result also drew conclusions that the Constant and Never Ending Improvement Application English Day Program was able to improve students' speaking performance.

Description of Data a. First Conditions

This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to improve students' speaking performance and study result in eleventh grade MAN 1 Lampung Timur. English Day application as a program to improve speaking performance because the researcher got information from the results of the previous survey that the students in the eleventh grade of MAN 1 Lampung Timur had a low speaking performance score. Based on the results of the preliminary survey of 28 students, there are only 10 students who passed and 18 students who failed the minimum proficiency criteria for the English lesson, 75.

The research result was obtained through tests that were administered to the students at the beginning of the research and at the end of each cycle, while the activity data was obtained from the observation when the learning activity took place. In this research, the researcher as an English teacher was with Mr. Before the learning process began, the researcher and the collaborator would like to discuss about the following:. The minimum proficiency criteria for English subject for eleventh grade at MAN 1 Lampung Timur was 75.

At this meeting, according to the teacher's expectations, the students received concrete information about the speaking performance. In the first and second meeting, the teacher would explain the English Day application as a program in a transactional and interpersonal speech.

The result of the pre-test showed that there were 18 students who did not finish achieving the minimum standard of mastery.

In observing the teacher's action, the researcher presented three meetings in cycle 1 of learning to find the information about speaking performance lesson. The students who scored more than 75 in pretest cycle 1 were only 10 students out of 28 students. For the second meeting, the teacher explained the material on transactional and interpersonal in speaking performance and using English Day as a program in teaching and learning process.

In the post-test of cycle 1, 13 of the 28 students achieved 75 or more, but this result was better than before treatment. The above data stated that the total of the students who paid attention to the teacher's explanations were students (35.71%) who were learning new vocabulary.

Planning

This meeting was used as post-test II at the end of cycle II, for 2x45 minutes the students were given the action. It was well completed by the students where they had to make a good dialogue about transactions and interpersonal and implemented English Day as a program to express ideas in English. Percentage of students' score in the post-test II Frequency percentage category without points.

Post-test II score showed that 4 students failed to reach the minimum mastery standard (MMC). But, the students' test score was better than that of the students in cycle I. Based on the post-test II result above, it can be concluded that the students' test was better than that of the students in code 1.

The researcher gave new vocabulary to the students, then the students memorized it and then used that vocabulary to make dialogue to perform in front of the class as well. There were also five indicators that were used to know the students' activities as before in learning process. Based on the result of the observation sheet in cycle II, the researcher indicated that learning process was in cycle II.

Student activities that had a high percentage were paying attention to the teacher's explanation (100%) and students memorizing new vocabulary (96.42%), students making a new phrase or sentence (92.85%) . Then the students spoke quickly using the new vocabulary (92.85%), and lastly the students asked and answered the teacher (100%). According to the result of the research in II. cycle, we could conclude that it was II.

From the result above, the researcher concluded that this research was successful and would not be continued in the next cycle. The table below showed the summary of the students' improved speaking performance in pre-test, post-test I and post-test II. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that Application of English Day as a program to teach speaking performance can improve the students' speaking performance because there was improvement from average in pre-test 69.10 to 72.67 in post-test I and 82.14 in post-test II became. .

The number of students who paid attention to the teacher's explanation increased from 15 students (53.57%) to 28 students (100%). The highest achievement of all students (100%) out of 15 students (53.57%) was when asking and answering the teacher. Treatment in cycle I was performed as shown in the post-test I result.

Based on the result of pre-test and post-test in cycle I, it was known that there was an improvement from the result score and thereby a student score or constant from the result score and thereby a student score or constant from the pre-test, but usually their speaking performance improved. At the cycle I, the researcher found some problems happening in the class, such as the students struggled to teach learning ability. The result and data of the cycle I make the researcher continued the learning process to the cycle II and solved the problem at the cycle I.

It can be seen that the average pretest is 69.10, the posttest in Cycle I is 72.67, and the average posttest in Cycle II is 82.14. This means that Application English Day as a program can improve the students'. It can be concluded that as a strategy has a positive influence on teaching and learning processes, especially in speech. Based on the chart above, it can be concluded that using English Day as a program can improve students' speaking performance.

All the students have successfully reached the minimum standard of mastery (MMC), namely 75. It can be deduced that the result of students' scoring in pre-test to post-test 1 to post-test 2 has reached the criteria of the indicator of success with percentage up to 70 % in the last cycle.

Suggestion

Based on the conclusion, the following are suggestions for English teachers, students and other researchers that may be useful for moving forward. The teacher is suggested to be more active to motivate the students to learn English. So the teacher gives the students the opportunity to speak in front of the class.

The creatives use an aid to teach the material to make students feel interesting, enjoy and highly motivated in the learning process. Students are suggested to improve their speaking performance and enrich vocabulary by using English day as a program, they must pay attention and focus on the material. So they can develop this research and focus on the English Day application as a program to improve students' speaking performance.
