The third goal was to equip families to develop the regular practice of family worship in the home. The six-week curriculum was developed to address the weaknesses identified in family worship. 1 Scott Brown, A Theology of the Family (Wake Forest, NC: National Center for Family Integrated Churches, 2016), 45.

In this chapter, family worship should be understood as a family's intentional commitment to train children in the education and admonition of the Lord. Secondly, the nature and humanity of Israel is revealed in the expression of God's covenant love. By growing in knowledge and outward obedience, parents can truly teach and guide their children in the ways of the Lord.

God's commandments and teaching should be the subject of conversation among God's people, especially in the home. In the giving of the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20, the commandment to honor one's father and mother is the fifth commandment. Paul says: "Fathers, do not tease your children, but bring them up in the discipline and discipline of the Lord" (Eph 6:4).

Raising a child in God's discipline and guidance does not mean that they stop sinning or that the father ignores sinful behavior.

W. Alexander’s Essential Elements of Family Worship

Alexander emphasizes that a primary part of family worship is the reading of the scriptures, not the exposition. While the Family Worship Survey will reveal the current practices of the families, many do not currently practice Family Worship at home on a regular basis. These three elements should be an important part of the family worship curriculum at FBCK.

In every way, the Scriptures were revealed as the center of family worship time and each. Third, all three positions claim that singing is an essential part of the family worship meeting. Once approved, weeks 4-7 were spent assessing participants' current perceptions and practices of family worship.

The Family Worship Survey (FWS) served as a pretest and posttest in this ministry project. While I was writing my curriculum, I started making a list of potential candidates I could ask to participate in the Family Worship Series. Before the first meeting, I prepared a folder with session handouts and examples of family worship to help families with family worship.

The purpose of this first session was to teach participants the basics of Family Worship. The second session of the Family Worship series focused on discovering what the Bible has to say about Family Worship. The final session focused on singing as the third primary element of family worship.

The preliminary study of the family worship service proved to be instrumental in the development of the curriculum to serve the needs of the participants. As a result of this project, seven families have committed to regularly engage in the practice of family worship in their own homes. The other strength was the depth of biblical examples included in the family worship curriculum.

Would Do Differently

Building a Biblical Foundation for Family Worship Discussion

The term and command to engage in "Family Worship" is not found in the Bible, but the principle is found throughout Scripture, and that is what we are going to explore today. 4 His sons used to go and hold a feast in each one's house on his day, and they sent and invited their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 And when the feast days were over, Job sent and sanctified them, and he rose early in the morning and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all.

Remove the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is wrong in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose today who you want to serve, either the gods that your fathers served in the region beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live. 31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who lived longer than Joshua and knew all the work that the Lord had done for Israel."

5 Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength. Common (verses 8-9): The physical reminders given in these verses are an ever-present reminder to the Israelite of his relationship with God and the gratitude he owes to the LORD. 2 "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land." 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

Therefore, the father must guide and teach his children in the way that God teaches His children. Wives, how can you encourage your husband to grow in leading his family in God's disciplined guidelines. Final Thought: While the term family worship is not found in the Bible, several passages (and there are many more) we have surveyed are abundantly clear that God expects parents: fathers and mothers to lead and teach their children to know God . to put their hope and trust in Him.

If you believe the Bible, then you must be convinced that God deserves to be worshiped in the home. Living, modeling and teaching how to live a godly life is too much for us, let us seek the Lord and ask Him for help - closing prayer. This project sought to increase the practice of family worship in the homes of members of the First Baptist Church in Keller, Texas.
