The New Glarus, Wisconsin, Chapter has developed a tradition in which upperclassmen leave a gift in the agriculture class. A senior class has been established every year since 1987. This summer, the chapter hosted a tour for about 200 agriculture teachers who were in Louisiana for a regional meeting of the National Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association. The FFA members gave demonstrations around the farm pond. In agricultural issues, Troy Deal from Lake High School and Rich Henneman from Libbey High School learned about agricultural practices that cause pollution and ways to stop them.
Leslie Bitz from LibbeyHigh and TomDoyle from Rogers High School made posters to positively emphasize the importance of clean water and cleaning up pollution. Ivol Caudill from Rogers and TonyFerrarifrom Woodward High helped plan the idea of adopting parts of the Ottawa River and Swan Creek and cleaning them up. Land Use Planning Mike Dufer from Waite High School discussed ideas for land around the river and creek, as well as planned construction projects that exist in flood plains.
