INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION
The role of tourism in the world is vast and is an industry that can generate exports, money, services, and travel. We are both required to think about how best to organize tours that can still be carried out even though we are in COVID-19.
Therefore, in order to realize the contribution of adaptive, creative and proactive students, a program called "Airlangga Ethno-Ecotourism" was held. This program is a series of activities to introduce Banyuwangi to the international world.
Banyuwangi, also the location of the Universitas Airlangga SIKIA Campus, is a city located at the eastern end of the island of Java with the charm of extraordinary natural beauty. The natural beauty in Banyuwangi is rarely exposed, so its beauty is still very well preserved. The natural beauty in Banyuwangi must be shown to the world so that it will attract foreign tourists to vacation in Banyuwangi.
In this program, BEM KM SIKIA Universitas Airlangga makes the stage for the development of science and the environment. The program is Compiled with webinar series with three sessions in which there is an Essay Competition and a Field Trip for three selected participants. Through the "Airlangga Ethno- Ecotourism" program with the theme of This is My Great Idea!!! Ethno-Ecotourism Optimization as a Tourism Sustainable Development Strategy, it is hoped that the values of Banyuwangi's local wisdom can be conveyed through the exploration of social custom, culture, and nature. It is also hoped that this program can achieve sustainable goals with efforts to optimize tourism development strategies in Indonesia, especially in Banyuwangi. The concept of sustainable tourism is in accordance with policy and legal documents, namely in Law 10 of 2009, which informs the existence of awareness about the concept of sustainable tourism, which has multidimensional aspects, namely environmentally friendly dimensions, also from an economic point of view that can provide benefits, socially and culturally acceptable to the community and positioning society as a core subject in development. Banyuwangi is a biosphere city with an abundance of internationally recognized natural tourist destinations such as the Ijen Geopark and Alas Purwo National Park. For this reason, BEM KM SIKIA Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi aims to introduce Banyuwangi to the international stage by practicing sustainable tourism based on local culture, known as "Airlangga Ethno-Ecotourism".
This aligns with the SDGs program and establishes a correlation between Indonesian students, especially Universitas Airlangga students, and foreign students who participate in the "Airlangga Ethno-Ecotourism" program.
Therefore, we invite all students in ASIA to participate in the "Airlangga Ethno- Ecotourism" activity. This activity combines creative, innovative, and adaptive thinking in the field of Tourism. One of the "Airlangga Ethno-Ecotourism" series is an Essay Competition. The competition aims to increase the role of students in tourism issues who have just come back to life after going through the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are expected to be able to create innovations and creations that are beneficial to society and the country.
