The results of findings showed that: 1) the process of improving English reading comprehension using critical reading strategy was carried out in 2 cycles. In the first cycle, learning activities implemented a critical reading strategy oriented toward content exploration. In the second cycle, implementation of critical reading strategy that is completed using games.

Based on the problem, this study presented a learning strategy that was directly related to the level of students' reading comprehension, namely critical reading. Enhancing Students' English Reading Comprehension through Critical Reading Strategy (Action Research at MTs Nurul Jannah NW Ampenan in Academic Year. For example, critical reading strategy used the reading model which was implemented to enhance the reading process.

The third previous research conducted by Khabiri and Pakzad titled “Effect of Teaching Critical Reading Strategies to English Language Learners”. Similarities and differences from both previous research and studies included both studies that applied the critical reading strategy to develop English skills. Meanwhile, the differences referred to in previous research aimed to determine the effect of applying critical reading strategy on English language learners' vocabulary retention, while this study was conducted to improve students' reading comprehension by using the reading strategy critical.

From the above theory, it can be concluded that critical reading refers to the activity of reading comprehension in various ways.

In addition, it imparted knowledge about the reading difficulties experienced by high school students so that teachers could appropriately implement instructional strategies according to the target difficulty. Additionally, they can adopt this strategy as a framework for developing their students' reading comprehension.

The planning phase in the second cycle was adapted to the results of the evaluation in the first cycle. The process of increasing English reading comprehension was evaluated from observations during the learning process in the classroom, which took place during the action process. Students found the main information in the text Considering value .. the text embodies and perhaps supports.

The activity of the teacher in the first meeting of the first cycle did not show the desired result of reaching a percentage of 100%. From the results of the post-test in the first cycle, it was concluded that the students' scores had not passed in accordance with the minimum standard value of 70. The first meeting, the students must create the context of meaning in the students' vocabulary in text and real life.

The result of the post-test in the second cycle is better than cycle 1. This can be seen from the following graph;. The results of the training result are also presented in the form of a comparison of the first and second cycles. The following are graphs of first and second cycle test results. Conclusion

There was a significant increase in English reading comprehension with the critical reading strategy from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2. The result is evident from the activity of the teacher and the activity of the students during the learning. The process of learning English reading comprehension through the use of critical reading has a positive effect on students.

The result of interview and discussion with students and collaborator came to the conclusion that critical reading can build students' reading ability. This strategy indicates that there was a relationship between the improvement of critical reading strategies and the amount of practice they had. The result of English reading comprehension learning using critical reading strategy developed students' ability.

The average score from the preliminary cycle to the second cycle also increased considerably. From the preliminary cycle to the first cycle the score increases by 4, while from the first cycle to the second cycle there is an increase of 29.8. From the success criteria of this study, it was concluded that the action stopped in the second cycle because the average score of the students reached 87.56.
